VP, Business Development for Latin America
Job Purpose
This role is an essential driver of the Company’s continued global growth and expansion throughout Latin America. This position is required lead hotel development deal sourcing and deal management throughout Latin America in the pursuit of the strategic objective of the Company to "expand our global footprint" in the development of hotels that carry our brands. This position is responsible for finding new hotel opportunities, establishing relationships with potential clients and negotiating transactions with hotel owners, investors and developers. This role reports directly to the SVP, Business Development for Standard International Management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the identification and assessment of new hotel opportunities for both The Standard and Bunkhouse hotel brands in Latin America.
- Understand and embody The Standard and Bunkhouse hotel brands.
- Responsible for actively working to source new projects through the region, traveling to investigate potential leads.
- Maintain deep industry knowledge and business relationships.
- Ability to underwrite each transaction using industry knowledge and research to create accurate and reliable pro formas for new deals.
- Expand and cultivate new and meaningful connections with targeted owners, developers, investors, hoteliers and other industry partners.
- Stay up to date on various industry publications and other key sources of information in order to remain well versed on the latest market trends and conditions, risks and opportunities.
- Conduct market research to identify viable new markets as well as understand guest needs.
- Responsible for negotiating, due diligence and closing deals with owners, developers and investors.
- Responsible for drafting and delivering a variety of proposals and presentations that are targeted to a wide range of both internal and external audiences.
- Maintain close involvement with the transition from deal to operation, ensuring deal integrity.
- Work collaboratively with Standard’s Design Development, Finance and Operations teams.
- Responsible for leading POB process with Finance teams.
- Work with Brand and Marketing Teams in the conceptualization, design and production of a wide variety of Development Marketing aids & collaterals that are used for Development purposes.
- Craft and execute a business development strategy that leverages Standard existing portfolio while also securing new work in the lifestyle and luxury hospitality industry. Target a broad range from boutique hotels to destination resorts.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
- 7+ years’ minimum related experience.
- Experience working with investors, owners and developers, specifically with lifestyle and luxury brands in both renovation and new construction.
- Have significant experience and contacts in the LATAM hotel ecosystem.
- Strong understanding of hotel metrics and industry operating reports and budgets.
- Strong underwriting skills.
- Computer proficient, experience working with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Communication skills, verbal and written, in English and Spanish required.
- Required to travel, both domestically and internationally.
