Nir Hod's The Night You Left is not What it Seems

Art

Nir Hod has been making for years, cycling through a variety of disciplines. He’s published a book of poetry, released music, done sculpture work but is, probably, most known for his realist paintings. His piece The Night You Left is the most famous—and controversial—of his works to date. The Standard met up with the artist to discuss his oeuvre as well as our new collaboration with the 49-year-old..

Waris Ahluwalia Reminds Us that Love Conquers All at his Late-night Tea Party at the Top of the Standard

New York-Party Patrol

Earlier this week, Waris Ahluwalia made a return to the Top of the Standard to host an epic late night tea party to launch his much anticipated new line of organic adaptogenic functional teas, HOUSE of WARIS BOTANICALS he crafted together with a team of herbalists. BBZ or "Babes" is Building Spaces for Marginalized People

London-Stand Up

How would you react if someone told you they'd started a collective (or a movement, if you want) for the need of deeper and more expansive friendships? Enthralled, am I right? That's exactly how I felt when Tia Simon-Campbell, co-founder of South East London-based BBZ, told me that exact thing. She, alongside Naeem Davis, started the organization to help build intentional spaces for queer, trans and non-binary people of color. Currently, the members consist of spoken word poets, writers, casting directors, DJs, dancers and more from across all of London. Now, 3 years after the inauguration, more than ever the group feels like they are able to inhabit and participate in spaces all over the British capital. But the mission doesn't stop there. We met up with Tia during The Standard, London's celebratory dinner for BBZ alternative graduate show...
