Your role

As our Groups & Events Sales Executive, you will support our Groups & Events Sales Managers and our Events team to manage all groups and event enquiries for the hotels from quoting to contracting.

You will be primarily be responsible for preparing sales proposals, quoting, and converting enquiries & prospective business leads, on behalf of our proactive sales team, for new and existing clients. You’ll be one of our guests’ very first points of contact, responsible for handling a range of both Group and Event enquiries including bookings over the telephone, over email or via one of online booking partners and build strong working relationships with all of our clients to ensure sales opportunities are converted. In addition to bookings in our meeting rooms, you will also handle enquiries for our private event spaces, outlets, and suites for exclusive private party use from dinners & cocktail parties to small fashion shows and press junkets.

An important part of your role will be showcasing our property, coordinating show rounds of our event spaces and hotel accommodation on behalf of the Sales team. You will also support some of the wider sales initiatives at the hotel, including the hosting of fam trips and potentially attending some roadshows and trade fairs. You’ll work closely with our team of Coordinators and Event planners to ensure that all details are handed over seamlessly and that contact with clients is maintained.

This is not a ‘Standard’ Groups & Events Sales Executive role so you will need to have miles and miles of personality and stamina, be highly social, upbeat and friendly; confident and be able to handle pressure well; thrive in a high-volume, high-energy environment and able to work equally well both independently and as part of a team.

Do you have what it takes to be a Groups & Events Sales Executive at The Standard

Prior experience in either Groups and/or Events is essential for this role; you will have however an uncompromised and natural flair for service and be able to build genuine relationships with guests and clients that enable us to not only pre-empt needs but deliver the unexpected.

In addition to this you will also need.

  • A proven track record as an Events / Sales Executive or an experienced Coordinator looking to grow your career, with experience ideally gained in a similar ‘Lifestyle’ hotel.
  • Ideally have experience in group sales, meetings and social events
  • Strong sales conversion skills
  • You will also need to be highly organised with great attention to detail, with a natural ability for sales
  • In addition to those with hotel experience we actively seek candidates with a diverse range of lifestyle skills and welcome applications from those in the arts, music and entertainment industries.
  • Highly social, motivated and pro-active; acting with professionalism and positivity in all interactions
  • You will also need to be highly organised with great attention to detail, with a natural ability for sales
  • Prior experience using Opera and other event management system is advantageous however full training will be given
