Of all the sounds that have been coming out of the Brooklyn "scene" in recent years, Latin and Caribbean vibes have been conspicuously absent. No longer. Meet Buscabulla, a band of Puerto Rican to Brooklyn transplants who will release their debut EP on Kitsuné. Of the debut track "Temporal" the band says: "Temporal means hurricane in Spanish, but it also means a passing thing. We wanted the song to feel like that, like the passing of a tropical storm." Based on the groove heard here, Buscabulla sounds like they won't just be passing through.

Annie O Presents: Forro in the Dark
NYC - ART
We dare you to listen to Brazilian band Forro in the Dark’s electrifying, rhythmic music and try not to start dancing—it’s pretty much impossible. The band, formed by the group’s leader Mauro Rofosco in 2002, seamlessly weaves farro (a percussion-heavy, ballroom dance hall style of music that’s popular in Northern Brazil) and elements from other musical genres like folk, jazz and rock. The result is a refreshing sound that instantly brings you to your feet. Annie O talks to the band before their show at The Standard, East Village...
Annie O Presents: Jack Gray
NYC - ART

Jack Gray moved all the way across the world, from a small town in North Queensland, Australia to Los Angeles. He toured with fellow Australian artist Dean Lewis in the U.S. and Canada, decamped to Nashville to do some songwriting, debuted new tracks every few weeks and now he’s set to release his first-ever EP, Nights Like This on May 31st. It’s been quite the momentous year for 20-year-old, to say the least. He will be in New York performing his latest alt-pop tracks at The Standard, East Village on June 3rd. In advance of the show, Gray caught up with Annie O to talk about his artistic process and the exciting new projects he’s got in the works.
