Well, we made it. 2024 was the year The Standard turned 25, celebrating a quarter century of good times around the world. We even started a little playlist series remembering every year of sounds since 1999! In other news, the U.S. presidential election took a turn when Joe Biden dropped out of the race mid-summer, initiating a chain reaction that would ultimately return Donald Trump to the White House. We watched the Paris Olympics and flocked to the movies to see Dune Part II and Wicked. War raged in Gaza and Ukraine while AI reached a new level of creepy ubiquity. And who can forget Brat Summer?
Thanks for following along as we remember all the ups and downs since 1999—and how it all sounded at The Standard. Through economic shocks, global instability, political back-and-forth, cultural breakthroughs, social progress, excitements and disappointments, it’s been a wild ride. We can’t wait to see what the next 25 years have in store.
