Designer Dossier: Baja East

Versatile is the name of game at Scott Studenberg and John Targon's Baja East. They describe it as an "evolved idea of loose luxe" that works for boys, girls, night, day, beach and town. Former salesmen from Celine and Lanvin these guys know how to talk the talk as well as wrap the 300-ply cashmere wrap.

Skinny on the collection:
The collection is an evolved idea of loose luxe, updating signature pieces like the baja in leopard pony, maxi in tribal cady and drop short in moto leather. The collection also features new styles such as a raglan moto jacket in stretch pony, drop shoulder fur lined parka, elastic waist towel-wrapped crepe skirt and a raw edge industrial snap front flannel shirt.

The concept of the collection is buy-now-wear-now. It is as wearable in Miami as it is layered on for New York, season-less and versatile. There is a strong offering of lightweight crepe bajas, croc printed swim and cotton tribal knitwear that can be worn in multiple climates.

Favorite piece?
Scott: The leopard pony moto leather parka. There is an aggressive outer-shell with the leopard print and sporty touches, but then the warm jersey lining keeps you cozy.
John: The towel-wrapped crepe skirt.

If you could live at The Standard which one would you pick?
The Standard, Miami FOR SURE!!! We LOVE the easy ambiance, peaceful bay, gorgeous grounds and the 24 hour waterfall hot tub is EVERYTHING - especially after a long fashion week!!!

Show's over, Disneyland or back to the grindstone?
Grindstone, but we know if we don't take a few days to charge up we won't be on - we need a weekend in February at The Standard Miami and then back to work finalizing inspirations, colors and fabrics for SS15, and let's not forget we head to Paris to continue selling the AW14 collection!!!
