Celebrating Black History Month

Black History Month is an opportunity to honor and celebrate the Black leaders who shape our world and culture. This February, we're launching curated and hand-picked collections in The Standard Shop that amplify the voices of Black creators, artists, and businesses. Our commitment to uplifting Black voices, educating and improving ourselves and our communities, and recognizing the invaluable contributions of the Black community will be celebrated this month and well beyond.
Abena Boamah, Founder

Abena Boamah is the Founder and CEO of Hanahana Beauty, a consciously clean, Black-owned skincare, beauty and wellness brand. Her mission is to bring humanity to the skincare industry by promoting increased transparency of ingredient sourcing, accessibility of products, and responsible environmental practices. Hanahana Beauty creates results-driven products while empowering Black women globally by creating sustainable paths from producers to their customers, starting with creating access to living wages and healthcare for shea butter producers in Ghana.
Sean Brown, Founder

Sean Brown is a multidisciplinary creative with a focus on photography and multi-dimensional design. His works, both personal and commercial, often recite themes surrounding accidental meaning: finding context through process, research, and exploration. His emphasis on context was perhaps most pronounced in the launch of his home decor and design brand, Curves, in the midst of the pandemic. Now an expansive line of contemporary homeware and everyday objects, the brand made its mark with a signature collection of handmade CD-shaped rugs, contrasting the image of obsolete technology with the lasting impact of art; all the while drawing inspiration from and bringing inspiration to the home.
Bradley L Bowers, Founder

Bradley L Bowers explores the dynamic overlap between rapid-prototyping and artisanal craftsmanship. His studio uses contemporary digital-modeling tools in unison with traditional craft techniques to achieve objects and forms that redefine the norms. He creates site-specific new media art installations, pop-up experiences, and bespoke pieces for fashion brands, art institutions, and private clients, exhibiting work in Design Miami, New York, New Orleans, Atlanta, Milan, as well as having works in a variety of permanent collections.
