You asked for it, and we served it up. We’re transforming Café Standard into an after hours sushi pop up.
For all you Japanese cuisine lovers, The Standard Spa, Miami Beach has put together Not Your Standard Sushi Pop-Up where you can enjoy unique offerings with a twist on traditional sushi, incorporating Latin flavors and innovative presentation styles all hand-picked and hand-rolled by our team. Most importantly, wash it all down with specialty-crafted Japanese beverages.

Presenting our itamae, Ricardo Vega, and his journey behind the art of sushi making.

Born in New York, and raised in Puerto Rico, during his childhood, Chef Ricardo developed a passion for cooking watching cooking shows on TV.  This led him to work in various local restaurants before attending New England Culinary Institute in Vermont.  From there he worked at Caneel Bay Resort in St. John, USVI.  That adventure led him to Florida where he worked at Mark's Las Olas for Chef Mark Militello who is considered one of the fathers of Florida cuisine.  From there, Ricardo worked at numerous restaurants and hotels including Nobu, Sushi Samba, and Doraku Sushi among others. After several years in the Four Seasons hotel in Orlando, Ricardo worked as a private chef. Now, he’s crafting up spins of the classics for us.
