The Standard, London's Much Anticipated Launch

Last night, The Standard, London celebrated its much anticipated launch with an intimate dinner at Isla followed by a riotous summer party spanning the hotel’s ground floor, where guests flitted between the Double Standard bar and library lounge.

VIP guests from London and further afield gathered to celebrate the our first international launch, where it joins five other hotels in the US. Guests were treated to a special performance from Dev Hynes, who played hits such as Take Your Time and Holy Will accompanied by a baby grand piano in The Standard, London’s beautiful library lounge.

Tessa Thompson and Naomi Shimada caught up over shared plates of Crab with papas arrugadas & seaweed and Iberico pork, chimichurri & daikon at the brand new Isla, The Standard, London’s coastal inspired restaurant helmed by chef Adam Rawson. Isla will offer an approachable seasonal menu featuring light proteins and a predominantly minimal intervention wine list. Isla’s name is inspired by Britain’s island geography and is ideal for long, lounging al fresco meals in the serene garden.

Later in the evening, the music was turned up and guests filled the ground floor to celebrate in true Standard style. Skepta arrived to listen to his friend Dev Hyne’s acoustic set on a baby grand. Guests enjoyed cocktails such as Chocolate Stout Martinis and IPA Sour made from whisky, IPA shrub, pink grapefruit and Hellfire bitters from the Double Standard’s high-shine burgundy bar while champagne and Isla of White cocktails circulated in the library lounge.

With upcoming launches in the Maldives in October, followed by Milan, Paris, Lisbon, Bordeaux, Mexico City, Bangkok, Jakarta, Ko Samui, Phuket and Chicago, to name a few, the London launch has set the tone for others to look forward to–anything but standard.
