YUPP! These Three Thai Artists Are Lighting Up Hua Hin

Standard Sounds is setting the soundtrack to summer in Hua Hin

On July 15, three emerging artists will take the stage in our little slice of paradise, courtesy of label YUPP! Entertainment. We sat down with Flower.far, AINN and GALCHANIE as they warm up for their Standard debut. They dished about musical influences, fashion, live performing—and the age old question, pool or beach? Here’s what they said.;

GALCHANIE

Tell us about your new music! how did you develop your signature sound?

My new song “Just Sayin’” just dropped it a few months ago with my bros NAMEMT and MAIYARAP, they’re so talented. I normally do R&B songs but for this one, I thought, why not try something new, so it came out as a Drill song with a bit of Jersey vibe. Shoutout to my producer Mayojames who makes this song turn out exactly what I imagined it to be. He’s amazing person I’ve ever met and this song has gone viral all over TikTok recently—it was so crazy, and I’m really glad to see so many videos using my songs. From now on, I think I'd like to try to make more variety of music because I enjoy trying new things. It's like I've been improving myself endlessly and no matter what song I'm in, I'm who I am.

We love your look—what are some of your favorite fashion influences?

Honestly, I not really interested in fashion because I'm a homebody, so I rarely go out. On a normal day, I'm dressed simply with a casual t-shirt, sweat pants, and sneakers. But if I have to go on stage, I focus on tops and accessories to make it stand out.

You can only choose one: Pool or beach?

Beach, because I'd rather be surrounded by nature than buildings, it's like I really connect with the world. And I love walking on the sand and listening to the waves crashing on the shore, it's so relaxing.

AINN

When did you know you wanted to become a musician?

There were many different phases and idols that influenced me to become a musician. But the first spark was when I watched Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” music video for the first time around fourth grade.

You describe yourself as “a South Korean boy who grew up in Thailand.” How does that mix of cultures influence your musical style?

To be honest, I was exposed to Thai music very late so I’m still learning what the Thai sound is. Since my writing is heavily influenced by R&B from the west and K-Pop, I’m focusing on how I could bring these elements into the T-POP world.

When you really need a getaway, where do you like to go?

Not going to lie, Hua Hin is the place for a getaway. The place is not too far or hard to get to from my place and the whole vibe of the town just seems very comforting. Though I’ve been to Hua Hin many times, it still has many places to be discovered. It’s a refreshing trip every time.

Flower.far

It’s been just over a year since you dropped your debut single “Like A Fool.” What’s been the most exciting moment in the last year?

The most exciting moment last year was having my own song on YouTube, for the first time in my life. Of course, I had my own music video that I performed myself. Everything was very new for me. I didn’t know how to prepare myself for being an artist and how to manage the time for study and work. But I’m always excited about the new things.

Tell us where the name Flower.far comes from.

Actually, my real name is “Flower”. My parents gave it to me. My two older sisters’ names are about flowers. I am the youngest sister in family. But my friends always call me “Far.” This is why my a.k.a. is “Flower.far.”

Do you have any pre-performance rituals to get you in the zone?

I still remember that I felt so excited before my first time on stage. But my manager gave me some tips about how to fix it. She told me that trying to think every concert was about singing with friends and family. Everyone who watching me is my friends. Yes, it’s always work!
