Make America Love Again

What did we do for the 4th? Made love, that's what.

The Standard hotels are places for people from all walks of life to come together—to meet, mix, mingle, and maybe, something more. Lately though, it’s been impossible to ignore the ongoing, and seemingly never-ending, string of hate-filled violence taking place in the U.S. and around the world.

For the Fourth of July, Independence Day, we celebrated life and liberty by empowering love in opposition to the pervasive hate that seeks to keep us apart. We spent our Fourth doing what we do best: getting people to make out.

All weekend on our Instagram, we shared a series of short videos created with photographer Lula Hyers, depicting everyday people getting their smooch on. It was kind of like birthday sex…but for America.

You joined us in spreading the message of love-not-hate by making your own videos in the kissing photo booths at each of The Standard hotels. We thought it'd be a heavy push for you all to get your make-out sessions on, and we weren't wrong.

We also donated to Everytown, the non-profit advocate for ending gun violence and building safer communities, and we matched every dollar that you donated

We say that kissing whomever you want, whenever you want (with their consent, of course), is just about the most patriotic thing you can do. Make out, love hard, and remember: love trumps hate.
