London Design Festival Take Over

We're partnering up with London Design Festival for some digital and socially-distanced events in King's Cross.
Naturally, this year's London Design Festival is unlike any other that has come before. Due to the pandemic, LDF have pivoted from their usual roster of showcases, presentations, parties and events across King's Cross to a more digital and outdoor focussed project to keep everyone safe. Design and architecture is at the heart of The Standard, London so it was a no brainer to partner with LDF on a few creative projects. Keep scrolling to get the full lowdown of the events below...

Design Talk on Sometimes Radio
Journalist Bethan Ryder hosts a one-off talk show for Sometimes Radio dedicated to all things design and King's Cross. The panel discussion - that was recorded live at the Sounds Studio - features the legendary designer Tom Dixon, sound designer and rising star Yuri Suzui and French experimental designer Marlene Huissoud who logged in from Paris.

London Design Festival Architecture Run
Continuing our celebration of the area, architecture autodidact and personal trainer, Ed Conway, will be leading two gentle 5km jogs to celebrate London Design Festival taking in nine mid-century modern and design-favourite sites on the way.

Open House London 
Alongside all the London Design Festival activities happening across King's Cross we'll also be opening up our doors for Open House London on both Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September. In addition, there will be architect tours on Saturday 19th September, led by exterior architect's Orms. The tours will be take about 45 minutes and will be in line with COVID regulations. Join us at The Standard, London for a 5km run & architectural tour through King’s Cross, Clerkenwell & Bloomsbury for London Design Festival

Architecture autodidact and personal trainer, Ed Conway, will be leading two gentle 5km jogs to celebrate London Design Festival.  On Tuesday 15th September and Wednesday 16th September from 6pm Ed will tour you around nine mid-century modern and design-favourite sites in the local area. Book your entry now.

The tours will explore the history and design of the surrounding area of The Standard, London and are suitable for everyone - from those with very little knowledge of architecture (but a keen interest to explore) to architects and designers themselves. The runs are suitable for all levels and will take about 1hr 30mins with regular stops to discuss select buildings and design feats.

The runs start and finish at The Standard, London whose building in itself is a regular on Ed’s architecture running tour series.

Welcoming in Open House London
Open House London
This year we're taking part in Open House London and keeping our revolving doors open to the public as well as offering exclusive tours from the architecture practice behind the reimagining of our brutalist home. From our much-loved Library Lounge to our 10th-floor restaurant, Decimo, book a tour to experience the top-to-toe experience of The Standard, London's evolution. 

Led by exterior architect's ORMS, the tours will take half an hour and run from 19th September. In line with COVID regulations with only include people total. Book your spot here:
