At The Standard Spa, Miami Beach, we like to bring our community and artists together in one place, which is exactly what we did for a community screening of Hello Whale with Commissioner and Bridge Initiative.
The film centers on Miami Beach–born artist Michele Oka Doner, whose work anchors a study of ecological interdependence in Alaska’s Tongass National Forest. Moving between art and science, it traces the relationship between old-growth forests, salmon populations, and humpback whales — a system as delicate as it is essential.
The evening brought together a focused group of Miami’s cultural and environmental community. The screening also introduced the project’s impact campaign, supporting ongoing research with the Alaska Whale Foundation and future expeditions led by Bridge Initiative, including an upcoming project in the Amazon.
