AholSniffsGlue's Guide to Miami

AholSniffsGlue's got his eyes on you. David Anasagasti, a first generation Cuban-American artist born and raised in Miami, is an invaluable figure in Wynwood's art scene. He's most known for his murals depicting hundreds of droopy eyes (as pictured above in his 2014 installation at The Standard Spa, Miami Beach). As an artist who knows Miami unlike any other, we asked him for his favorite haunts.

My new favorite taco spot. Open late with badass chicken tacos and pan con lechon (get the egg on it). Cuban-owned, so expect some extra special surprises and limited items making special appearances on the menu. Non-alcoholic drinks on deck, with a loose BYOB policy, and quite conveniently located across from a liquor store (which happens to have a mural on it painted by myself, terms, Santiago Rubino, and Jona Cerwinske). Highly recommended ;).

Best spot in Wynwood! No cover, no dress code, and home of Pizza Tropical (badass pizza). They have an epic happy hour Monday through Friday, 4-7PM. Versatile music and event programming, and out the box fun always. They just organized a field trip to see The Price is Right Live! hosted by Jerry Springer. No bar in Miami is doing shit like that. Try the Dark and Stormy, play video games, and enjoy the company of the realest, most attentive staff in town! They’re leading the way in preserving Miami's powerful history.

Catch the 3 Bus anywhere on Biscayne Boulevard for the cheapest culturally-enriching experience. For $2.25 (exact change required), you can experience one of Miami's main lines from the comfort of a Dade County Public Transit Bus. The 3 Bus goes up and down Biscayne Blvd and stops at almost every stop along the way. It runs from the Omni Stop in Downtown Miami all the way to Aventura Mall. Here is a short film I made highlighting my personal love and involvement with Biscayne Blvd.

Located in the heart of historic Little Havana across from Domino Park, this place has the best ice cream in town and all the reason to venture out to Little Havana. If you are lazy, you can get it delivered, but if you are visiting, head out there and cool off. You won't regret it. Epic family vibes and homemade ice cream inspired by Miami's tasty Cuban culture. Heavily consigned and sold at many award-winning local restaurants!

This Little Haiti spot is owned by Lolo Reskin and has been operating for over 12 years. It’s the only record store in town with new vinyl, rare hometown gems, and treasures. Coffee, snacks, and souvenirs on deck. Family friendly and out the box programming on the regular. They know everything cool happening in our city, so pay them a visit and scoop some things. Conveniently located next to Churchill's Pub (another Miami landmark you must experience).

Located in the Perez Art Museum Miami (Miami's amazing state of the art museum). PAMM Shop is ran by Michael Balbone and has some of the most unique gifts in town. It also supports and sells many unique treasures from some of our cities most active and involved creatives. Make sure and peep the shop and definitely peep the museum. It's beautiful, pumped with cold AC, and smells good.

Open everyday from 8PM-5AM. Drink specials every night. No cover, no dress code, local favorite's spot with different programming every night. Definitely worth checking out. Awesome staff and vibes. Conveniently located and connected to Lost Weekend (another dope spot with badass subs and pool tables). Fun times ALWAYS!

First speakeasy bar of South Beach, opened in 2011. Hidden through an alley entrance with an unmarked door. The neighborhood local’s bar with vintage arcade games, dartboards, pool tables, and a jukebox. Open 365 days a year (even during hurricanes). Guaranteed blast!

This place is a true gem. Cuban food 24 hours a day and right in the heart of Downtown Miami. Family owned and operated forever. True Miami vibes. Tasty and mad cheap. Cash only, but ATM inside. There's only like four stools to sit on, but standing and eating works, too. Beer on deck always. Another local gem. Must check, especially late-night!
