After last year’s sell-out NYE party, The Standard, London’s good friend Benji B returns for another all-night long musical journey, channelling new and classic sounds alongside two very special live performances by Lovers Rock queen Janet Kay & future soul star George Riley

Benji B, is a music curator whose work as a DJ, musical director, and BBC radio broadcaster has led him to the forefront of the future music movement as seen through his collaborations with the likes of Louis Vuitton, Lauryn Hill, Kendrick Lamar, Tyler the Creator, Gustavo Dudamel, Moodymann, Yussef Dayes and many more.

Janet Kay, dubbed the Queen of Lover’s Rock made history as the 'First British born Black Female Reggae Artist to have a No. 1 in the British Pop Charts' with timeless classic ‘Silly Games’ in 1979. Her subsequent hits with ‘Eternally Grateful’, ‘Loving You’ and ‘I’m Still In Love’ firmly rooted her as a bastion within the twentieth century sound system canon.

George Riley is a singer hailing from West London. Her signature futuristic take on soul infuses the sonics that soundtrack her immediate surroundings, including jazz, R&B, trip hop and electronica. Fusing diverse sounds with her own unmistakable tone, she has woven subtle narratives from underrepresented cultures throughout her output; steadily building an essential discography with a multitude of essential messages.

For our inaugural New Year’s Eve celebration in Sweeties, we’ve invited three standout, party-starters who’ve blown us away whilst gracing the decks in different venues at The Standard, London this year.

Hosted by DJ and producer Karen Nyame KG AKA ‘The Rhythm Goddess’, her plethora of African polyrhythms, sub-basses, and floating vocal lines are a sure-fire way to showcase the evolving sound of London’s club music hybridity.

Secondly, we’ve invited coveted and certified London DJ don Tash LC, who’s had an amazing year with her label Club Yeke, NTS radio show and party collective Boko Boko.

Opening proceedings in Sweeties is Selassie TBC. Having ran Future Bubblers’ for several years, Selassie’s an incredible selector with trusted ear for new sounds and a penchant for Afrobeats.
