Vice President, Design and Development (Asia Pacific and Middle East)

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for providing design management support throughout all programming and design stages of project development. The candidate would provide support to their Direct Report within the Design Department. This position is required to liaise with all Development departments, as well as, Operations, Legal, Brand, and Chief Officers upon request. Liaise with Owner’s Management Team in relation to the specific project schedule, planning, design, and material specification. Networking with industry leaders.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing market feasibility and analysis of projects.
• Coordinate and attend and minute project meetings.
• Track project schedules and monitor progress and delays.
• Assist in site appraisals of potential new projects.
• Support the CDO in the recommendation of design consultants.
• Review of design and architectural drawings and materials.
• Ensure Standard International Design Guidelines are implemented throughout the Design Process.
• Ensures Standard International policy is continually adhered to throughout the Design Process.
• Support the design consultants during the design process by advising Standard International on strategic requirements.
• Liaise and coordinate with Standard International Technical Services team, Design, and other related Standard International specialists during Design Development.
• Represent Standard International during client and consultant meetings.
• Any other duties as may reasonably be requested by the management.
• Interface with bidding & value engineering process.
• Interface with construction administration activities.
• Provide day-to-day management of multiple projects, organizational strategy, and process leadership.
• Works closely with the team to organize and implement planning, design, and construction for new and existing properties.
• Follows directions and tasks assigned by Chief Design Officer.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture is essential to qualify for this position (essential).
• Master’s degree (desirable)
• Registration with a Professional Architectural or Interior Design institution (desirable).
• Minimum 5 years in a similar position in an international hotel management company.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in the design/hospitality industry delivering successful projects and developing relationships with clients, design consultants, general contractors, and vendors.
• Good working knowledge of Computer Programs like AutoCAD, 3D, Photoshop, Microsoft, InDesign applications etc.
• Proven design, planning, and project delivery skills.
• Thrives within the team and individual environments.
• Able to manage frequent travel.
• Outstanding communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Multilingual Preferred.
• Computer proficient.
