Artist Reception: Ted FeighanJoin us in celebrating Ted Feighan’s installation with The Box series, titled Return to Paradise. The installation is an extension of collages that Feighan, also a musician, created for a namesake album earlier released in 2013. Return to Paradise will be on display through March 9th.
ABOUT THE INSTALLATION
Return to Paradise delves into Feigan’s themes of a metamorphosed island paradise through collage. Taking the scene from the gatefold of his record and looking outward, Return to Paradise expands the viewer's perspective and brings it to life. Vibrant scenes of lush foliage and exotic animals aggregate the pieces and transport the viewer’s thoughts to ideas of warm tropical locations. Feighan juxtaposes a compilation of images into an organized scene of familiarity and surrealism. The collection of works exhibits his creations of elaborate collages in full scope, bringing the mountain range, animals and floral arrangements into focus.
ABOUT TED FEIGHAN
Ted Feighan is a Los Angeles-based collage artist and musician originating from Cleveland, Ohio where he graduated from Ohio State University. Feighan is largely known for his music released under the moniker, Monster Rally, where he works to sample forgotten vinyl records. Both his music and art alike play on tropical themes from the forgotten past. By using the two congruent art forms, he recounts a deeper narrative of cultural relics underrepresented in present-day.
