This year, the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks are pulling double duty—celebrating America’s 250th birthday and the show’s 50th anniversary. The East River will light up around 9:30 PM with dazzling pyrotechnics, vibrant colors, and state-of-the-art projection mapping. Want to skip the crowds? Hotel guests can catch the show from The Penthouse at The Standard, East Village, with complimentary access and skyline views that are hard to top.

Official Viewing & Closures

The Brooklyn Bridge will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic beginning at 9:00 AM on July 4 and will remain closed until early the following morning. Brooklyn Bridge Park is one of the premier viewing locations, but access is limited. Thet park closes to the public in the afternoon and reopens exclusively for ticket holders. Complimentary general admission tickets are distributed through a city-sponsored lottery.

Know Before You Go

The NYPD will enforce strict security measures throughout official viewing areas. Large backpacks, coolers, alcohol, umbrellas, lawn chairs, and drones are prohibited. Extensive street closures are expected along the FDR Drive, Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn waterfront areas, and surrounding streets. Public transportation is strongly recommended.

The Penthouse will be open exclusively to hotel guests.
