Caracas Pop-Up
Wednesdays are about to taste different. Starting September 3, something’s baking with Caracas at Café Standard.Although we believe every day deserves a delicious surprise, this month, we're serving that up exclusively on Wednesdays, 7AM-5PM, through September 24. Caracas Bakery is turning our Café Standard into a flaky, savory playground of breakfast and lunch with a twist. The award‑winning, croissant‑and‑cachito‑obsessed Caracas crew will take over to serve up their ridiculously good Venezuelan‑style favorites, sandwiches, toasts, and more alongside your cafecito rituals.
In 2014, what began as a humble sourdough obsession between father and son, Manuel, a self-taught baker with roots at Zak the Baker, and Jesús, learning the craft via YouTube, blossomed into something rather special. By 2020, amid the hum of Doral’s Venezuelan community, they launched Caracas Bakery: a modest takeout spot offering both artisan sourdough and beloved Venezuelan treats like campesiños and cachitos. From that unassuming strip-mall kitchen, word of their flaky croissants and irresistible cachitos spread fast; accolades followed, including a James Beard semifinal nod and New York Times recognition as one of America’s 22 best bakeries, proof that sometimes, all you need is flour, family, and a whole lot of heart.
