Security Agent (Guest Relations)

The Role

The Security Agent (Guest Relations) plays a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and seamless experience for both guests and team members. This position is responsible for maintaining the overall safety and security of the hotel, parking areas, and surrounding property while delivering a guest-focused, hospitality-driven approach to security.

As a visible presence on property, this role goes beyond traditional security by balancing awareness, professionalism, and approachability, ensuring that every interaction supports The Standard’s culture of care, respect, and community. The Security Agent responds to incidents, investigates concerns, and proactively prevents issues, all while maintaining a calm, solution-oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and security of guests, employees, and property at all times.
  • Provide a strong, visible, and approachable presence throughout the hotel and surrounding areas.
  • Perform routine and frequent patrols of the property, including hotel grounds, spa, and parking areas.
  • Respond promptly to all calls for assistance, complaints, incidents, and emergencies.
  • Investigate and document all incidents, accidents, and guest or staff complaints thoroughly and accurately.
  • Maintain detailed and organized daily security logs, including hourly activity reports and noise complaints.
  • Monitor video surveillance systems and report any suspicious activity.
  • Enforce hotel policies, safety practices, and applicable state and local laws, including liquor laws.
  • Partner with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
  • Communicate all relevant updates and incidents to the Guest Relations Manager and Manager on Duty.
  • Maintain and manage lost and found items in accordance with hotel procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with all departments (Front Desk, Valet, Housekeeping, Spa, and F&B) to support a seamless guest experience.
  • Assist Department Heads with operational needs and special requests when appropriate.
  • De-escalate situations and, when necessary, facilitate the removal of individuals who pose a risk to safety in a professional, calm, and nonviolent manner.
  • Maintain access to and awareness of all emergency contacts and critical resources.
  • Uphold a professional demeanor at all times, working independently and proactively without constant supervision.
  • Perform additional duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous security experience required; nightclub, hospitality, or entertainment environment preferred.
  • Valid Guard Card certification required.
  • First Aid and/or CPR certification preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English (verbal and written); bilingual preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and guest service skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with guests, team members, management, and law enforcement.
  • Strong observation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Comfortable using surveillance systems and basic computer programs.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, including the duration of an entire shift.
  • Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor environments and weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and move items up to 25 pounds.
