Green Key at The Standard, Brussels

Green Key: Bold ideas deserve responsible actions
At The Standard, Brussels, sustainability is part of how we operate every day — not something we switch on when it’s convenient.
As a Green Key certified property, we’re committed to reducing our environmental impact through both visible choices and behind-the-scenes practices.

Want a glimpse of what we’re doing?

During your stay
  • Housekeeping on your terms — You can choose if and when your room is cleaned, helping reduce water, energy and product use.
  • Responsible cleaning practices — Our housekeeping partner uses eco-friendly cleaning products across the property.
  • Smarter waste management — Waste is sorted throughout the building to reduce landfill impact.
  • Low impact ways to move — Electric bikes are available for guests who want to explore the city differently.
  • Thoughtful choices in our restaurants — Across our food and drink spaces, beverages are served in glass bottles to reduce single-use plastic.
Our building
  • Rainwater is reused to supply toilet flushing throughout the building.
  • 95% of the materials used in the building’s construction are Cradle to Cradle certified.
  • 65% of the heating and cooling needs are covered by a geothermal system.
  • Low-temperature heating and cooling systems
  • Centralised energy production reuses excess heat
Local culture
Sustainability also means supporting the creative ecosystem around us. At The Standard, Brussels we use our hotel to celebrate the creative energy of Brussels, from DJs shaping our music programming to designers and artists whose work lives throughout the hotel.
The hotel’s interior design was led by Belgian designer Bernard Dubois, while artworks by Belgian artists such as Jan JanssenSam Druant, and Wesly Jacobs are showcased throughout the hotel, allowing local creativity to shape the atmosphere.
Behind the scenes
Some things you won’t always see, but matter just as much.
A dedicated Green Key committee keeps us accountable — reviewing what we do, challenging it, and pushing it further.
Because sustainability isn’t static. It’s something we keep working on.
