At the heart of our hotels are the people who through their vibrancy and energy bring our properties to life. We are now seeking a dynamic individual that will capture the very essence of the Standard London to join our team as a Sweeties Bar Back.
Your role
As Sweeties Bar Back you will be part of a specialist drinks service from early evening sunset cocktails through to late-night lounge and party vibes. Think floor-to-ceiling views, exceptional drinks, and a soundtrack from our ever-evolving DJ and live music line-up curated by our Music & Culture team.
You are passionate about service, have a good understanding of bar operations, and the eagerness to support your team to create an environment that will delight our guests.
Your role is to assist with the preparation and staging on the bar counter, fridges, back bar and speed rails for service, and ensure the bar has sufficient quantities of all its equipment such as glasses, drinks and crockery. During service, you are the right hand to the bartenders and will ensure the workspace stays tidy and organised and the bar stays stocked according to standards.

While we take every detail of design and guest experience seriously, we do not take ourselves too seriously. ‘Standard People’ are at the heart of our brand; vivid, dynamic and engaging. You’ll intrinsically understand the unique microcosm and the context of our venues and city you represent.
While prior experience as a Bar Back is essential, all are welcome at The Standard. You must however have an uncompromised and natural flair for service and be able to build genuine relationships with guests that enable us to not only pre-empt needs but foresee desires. In addition to this you will also need….
- Prior experience as a Bar Back with the ability to engage and connect with a wide range of guests from different backgrounds, ideally gained in a similar ‘Lifestyle’ boutique hotel, destination cocktail bar or similar busy city bar
- To be highly social, motivated and pro-active; acting with professionalism and positivity in all interactions
- Available Wednesday – Saturday evenings, including late night (3am)
- In addition to those with experience we are actively seeking candidates with a diverse range of lifestyle skills and welcome applications from those in the arts, music and entertainment industries
