Night Auditor (Overnight Front Desk)
The Night Auditor serves as the heartbeat of the hotel overnight—balancing the books while keeping the experience seamless, calm, and cared for. This role is responsible for overseeing all overnight operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and acting as the Manager on Duty during non-business hours.
Blending front desk hospitality with accounting precision, the Night Auditor supports late-night arrivals, resolves guest needs, and ensures the property runs smoothly while the rest of the city sleeps. This role requires independence, sound judgment, and a strong attention to detail, along with a guest-first mindset.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all overnight guest needs.
- Welcome late-night arrivals and manage check-ins and check-outs efficiently and warmly.
- Handle reservation inquiries, modifications, and requests.
- Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive and memorable experience.
- Maintain a calm, secure, and welcoming environment throughout the overnight shift.
- Complete all nightly audit procedures in accordance with hotel standards and timelines.
- Reconcile daily financial transactions, including room revenue, cash, credit cards, and third-party billing.
- Accurately post room charges, taxes, and adjustments.
- Generate and distribute daily financial and operational reports.
- Identify, investigate, and report any discrepancies to management.
- Ensure all systems are balanced and prepared for the next business day.
- Act as Manager on Duty overnight, ensuring smooth and efficient hotel operations.
- Conduct regular property walks to ensure cleanliness, safety, and operational standards are met.
- Monitor overnight activity, including arrivals, departures, and overall guest flow.
- Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, and security teams as needed.
- Support all departments in maintaining service standards during overnight hours.
- Ensure adherence to hotel policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Respond to emergencies, incidents, and guest concerns following established protocols.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of guest information and financial data.
- Promote a safe and secure environment for guests and team members at all times.
- Previous front desk or night audit experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of hotel PMS systems (Opera, SynXis, or similar).
- Basic accounting knowledge with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
