Chamber NYC
Collection #2

Chamber, the conceptual cabinet of curiosities tucked underneath the High Line, recently unveiled its second collection. Collection #2 investigates how the natural world interacts with man’s living environment through objects selected by multi-disciplinary artist and photographer Andrew Zuckerman. The objects on display include a 150-million-year-old-dinosaur fossil as well as contemporary commissions created exclusively for Chamber.

New York NY 10011
LA artist Mark Bradford is one of the most gifted working today, and his new show at Hauser and Wirth, titled “Be Strong Boquan” is his first with the gallery. The show features new video works, as well as his striking, layered paintings.

Bridget Riley
November 5 - December 19, 2015
David Zwirner
525 & 533 West 19th Street
Bridget Riley is best-known for her trailblazing contributions to the sub-genre of abstraction known as “Op Art”—works that use the interplay of form and color to explore perception. Trippy, yes, but with a serious underpinnings, Riley’s show at Zwirner is a perfect counterpoint to the nearby Stella retrospective.

New Museum
Jim Shaw: The End Is Here
11/18 – Screening of Iris
11/19 - “Robert Mapplethorpe: The Perfect Moment,’ Twenty-Five Years Later”
Indescribable, deeply weird, and totally worth seeing, the Jim Shaw show at the New Museum, brings together the artist’s massive stage set-like hallucination, his massive collection of found thrift store paintings, and a full room of religious ephemera, all of which make up the artist’s diverse and hard to pin down body of work. Time up your visit with a screening of Albert Maysles’ highly endearing documentary Iris, about the fashion icon Iris Apfel, or the panel discussion “‘Robert Mapplethorpe: The Perfect Moment,’ Twenty-Five Years Later”.

Literary Deathmatch
Friday, November 20th, 8-10pm
The Standard, Miami Beach
Co-created and hosted by Adrian Todd Zuniga, Literary Deathmatch marries the performance of Def Poetry Jam, the rapier wit of American Idol¹s judging (minus the meanness), and the ridiculousness of Double Dare. Four famous and emerging authors will perform their most electric writing before a live audience and a panel of three all-star judges who take turns spouting hilarious, off-the-wall commentary about each story, then select their favorite to advance to the finals. The absurd and comic climax determines who takes home the Literary Death Match crown.
