Head Bartender


Responsible for curating a cool and sought-after bar experience. Is the instantly recognizable face of The Standard’s Bar. Creates an emotional connection with the clientele of The Hotel and greater Bangkok through exceptional technical skill, an engaging and outgoing personality and leading market product knowledge.



–         Strong working relationship with beverage consultant team

–         Responsible for creating signature outlet beverage menus

–         Lead the bartending team in all day-to-day operations whilst working the rail

–         Create specialty beverage promotions

–         Create and maintain strong customer ‘first name’ relationships

–         Excellent memory for guest preferences

–         Encourage and train staff to go beyond the norm for patrons through surprising and delighting

–         Train staff on recommending, promoting and upselling beverages

–         Maintain high staff morale and team spirit

–         Encourages camaraderie, personality and flair on the line

–         Create and implement beverage training plans

–         Ensure compliance with all food and beverage policies and procedures

–         Manages compliance with all applicable beverage and liquor laws with responsible service of alcohol

–         Understands beverage control procedure including days on hand, perpetual inventory, bar pars, portion control, costs controls, beverage potentials and mix of sales analysis for beverage

–         Communicates critical information to beverage employees regarding daily events

–         Ensuring the department maintains a first-class visual impact including ambiance, cleanliness, orderliness and décor

–         Ensure all bar equipment is properly cleaned and maintained

–         Continually improve guest and employee satisfaction

–         Identify and analyze competitors to stay up on market trends

–         Control purchases and inventory though supervision of material control’s approvals processes

–         Supports public relations opportunities to promote the hotel’s bars

–         Actively participate in the hiring process to identify the right talent to support the outlet's concept in line with Standard recruiting guidelines

–         Be well versed in all necessary Hotel brand standards and history and ensure all direct reports are likewise versed



–         Ensure a service-oriented culture focusing on guests’ needs

–         Be well versed in the hotel’s fire and life safety emergency procedures

–         Apply necessary precautions with regards to the hotel food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP)

–         Build strong working relationships with other hotel departments

–         Attend meetings with senior management to discuss future business strategies and review ongoing action plans and progress

–         Maintain the highest standard of personal appearance and cleanliness

–         Perform other duties assigned by the management



Knowledge and Experience

–         2 years of relevant experience in a similar luxury hotel or free-standing bar

–         Reading, writing and oral proficiency in English and Thai language

–         Bar tending competitions experience and asset

–         Preopening experience an asset


–         Strong leadership, interpersonal and training skill

–         Energetic and personable
