Introducing Your New Favorite Swedish Band, Immanu El

ABBA, Volvo, Sesame Street's Swedish Chef, IKEA, Swedish Fish, snow. Yeah, we're pretty much obsessed with all things Swedish and are always on the lookout for the newest Swedish import. We were so excited when we discovered our (and your) new favorite Swedish band, Immanu El, that we couldn't resist booking them for The Standard, Hollywood's Desert Nights this Wednesday. Have a listen:

STANDARD: How about starting off by telling us a bit about where you’re from and how you got into music?
Immanu El: We are founded in a small village in southern Sweden during our years in high school. In one way or another we've always been playing music in different ways and constellations.

What are your current top 5 songs you listen to over and over?
Com Truise - Flight Wave
Daughter - Smother
Atoms For Peace - Default
This Will Destroy You - Burial On The Presidio Banks

What songs do you wish you’d written?

Tinariwen - Matadjem Yinimixan, 9th symphony of Beethoven, and the Russian national anthem or "Helan Går" (traditional swedish drinking song).

What’s the best adventure you’ve ever had as a musician?
Touring Asia or running from a suspected serial killer in England.

Does The Standard, Hollywood's Desert Nights’ intimacy and relaxed vibe influence what you play and your overall sound?
We'll try our best to adapt our set to the best mood around there.

Immanu El will be performing live this Wednesday, March 6th as part of The Standard, Hollywood's weekly Desert Nights held from 7:30pm - 10pm. Good times, guaranteed.
