Art has long been woven into the cultural fabric of the East Village, and the works on view throughout The Standard, East Village honor that legacy through a thoughtfully curated mix of installations celebrating creativity, individuality, and community. From the lobby hallways to Cuna Bar & Lounge and along 5th Street, each piece reflects the vibrant artistic spirit of the neighborhood while showcasing artists from diverse backgrounds whose perspectives contribute to the ever-evolving story of New York City.

CHROMA

By Su Müstecaplıoğlu  

Born in Istanbul and now based in Manhattan, Su Müstecaplıoğlu is a photographer whose work blends photography and moving images to explore themes of time, culture, politics, and poetry; her selected pieces from the CHROMA collection feel perfectly at home within Cuna Bar & Lounge, where earthy tones of orange and brown blend effortlessly with warm wooden accents and soft ambient lighting to create a layered sense of depth and warmth throughout the space. Beyond the Horizon of Time 

By Rahm Bowen 

Conceptualized by Brooklyn-based queer artist Rahm Bowen in honor of Pride 2023, Beyond the Horizon of Time is a hand-painted mural outside Cuna Bar & Lounge that comes to life through seven figures rendered in the hues of the Pride flag, creating a vivid celebration of Black and queer expression while reflecting the full spectrum of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Sweet Nothings

Created by visual artist and writer Karimah Hassan as part of her Women’s History Month 2025 artist residency at The Standard, East Village, Sweet Nothings transforms fleeting city moments into vibrant paintings inspired by snapshots of New York sketched from memory and neighborhood people-watching, each deeply personal work brought from conception to installation during her cozy winter stay and reflecting on her enduring connection to the downtown community from her earlier days working out of a Ludlow Street studio. Pixel Clouds 

By Daniel Arsham 

Created by internationally acclaimed contemporary artist Daniel Arsham, whose work has become instantly recognizable for blending art, architecture, and pop culture, Pixel Clouds is a 10-foot floating sculpture that weaves together hand-dipped spherical balls to mirror the pixelated shades of a cloud formation, drawing inspiration from the artist’s own iPhone cloud photography and serving as a mainstay at The Standard, East Village since 2014. Garden of Collective Futures 

By Misha Tyutyunik & The Austrian Cultural Forum of New York 

Organized by EUNIC New York and the Austrian Cultural Forum New York under the creative direction of Ukrainian-born, New York–based artist Misha Tyutyunik, Garden of Collective Futures is a public art project created in collaboration with artists from ten different countries, bringing together a shared vision of creativity, community, and international cultural cooperation at a time when the world feels increasingly divided. Installed over several days in June 2024, the project remains on view today at the corner of 3rd Ave and East 5th Street as a powerful reflection of collective expression and cross-cultural connection.
