Kenny Scharf's 'Kolorful' Opening

Color was the operative word last night at the opening of Kenny Scharf's new show, "Kolors," at the Paul Kasmin Gallery in Chelsea, which featured a smorgasbord of retinal delights, from eye-popping canvases to glow-in-the-dark doughnuts from Doughnut Plant, which were far more delicious than that sounds. A cross section of the New York art world turned out to toast the artist, including Francisco Clemente, Sante d'Orazio, Margherita Missoni and KAWS, packing into the gallery before heading over to the black-lit after-bash at The Standard, High Line (a nod to Kenny's infamous Cosmic Caverns). Check out all the party pics here!

While most guests took a conventional taxi downtown, Kenny steered his pimped-out donut mobile. Our very own Stan D'Arde rode shotgun for the 13 block journey, which ended at Stan's usual VIP parking spot, right in front of the revolving doors. Scharf's donut dispenser will remain in the plaza for the next month selling Doughnut Planet's glow-in-the-dark wares.

En route to The Standard

The Latest from Standard Press, 'Kolors'
Hopefully, you had a chance to see Scharf’s "Squirtz" sculpture at The Standard High Line Plaza before he was moved to the gallery. He was part of the show, the making of which was documented in our latest book from Standard Press. In partnership with Damiani and Paul Kasmin Gallery, and on sale today, the catalogue is a collective imprint of Scharf’s new work for the exhibition, documenting his process, his studio, and his inspirations, and has a forward by Jeffrey Deitch. Kenny describes the book as "basically, the past year of my life." And it's all here, NOW!
