David Browne's Buena Vistas

David Browne is the latest artist to tackle The Box at The Standard, Hollywood. His installation, entitled Virgin Visions, features painted vistas from locations near The Standard, Hollywood from a time before progress and modernization. The show is a stylized history through minimal landscapes. A Los Angeles native, David Browne uses simplified forms and color to translate his experience and affinity for the city he lives in and the aesthetic he responds to. Since we don't know anyone who knows Los Angeles better than David Browne so we asked him to share some of his favorite vistas in and around the city.

Kenneth Hahn Park

Kenneth Hahn Park

"400 acres of hiking and biking trails, playgrounds, basketball court, baseball diamond, and a fishing lake! All located in the View Park/Windsor Hills area in Los Angeles. One side of the park offers views of the Westside, Mid City, Downtown and the other offers El Segundo, South Central and the South Bay."

Angeles Crest

Angeles Crest

"A short and dangerous drive up the 2 freeway but worth the trip to this hidden gem in the Angeles National Forrest. Tons of hiking and camping spots you may happen come across a group of cool kids BBQ'ing or a quinceanera. Views of the Los Angeles basin and local mountains."

Elysian Park

Elysian Park

"Los Angeles's oldest, one of the biggest, and probably the creepiest parks. Elysian Park has short hiking trails, historic sites and a Peter Shire sculpture at Angels Point that over looks the Elysian Valley and Downtown. With multiple views of surrounding neighborhoods you could spend days getting weird in the hills."

Vista Hermosa Park

Vista Hermosa Park

"Designed by civic minded landscape architect Mia Lehrer, Vista Hermosa is filled with native plants and trees, a gang of feral cats, a few teenagers making out, and probably the most intense view of downtown Los Angeles."

Temescal Canyon Park

Temescal Canyon Park

"Spy on wealthy home owners mansions nestled in the valleys, Temescal Canyon Park also has views of Santa Monica Bay, the West-side, and some sections stretch to Downtown."

Santa Monica Bluffs

Santa Monica Bluffs

"Tourists, housewifes, crossfit champs, and the home of the homeless, the people watching at the Santa Monica Palisades is amazing! Also, great views of Santa Monica Pier, beach, and the Santa Monica Bay."
