Q&A: Christopher Kane Wants “More Ibiza”

Designer Christopher Kane turned “More Joy” into a mantra—and shares his love of all things Isla Blanca with The Standard. We teamed up with Christopher on a sunny “More Ibiza” tote (for sale in The Standard Shop) and picked his brain about holidaying on the legendary island.
What was the inspiration behind the More Joy x The Standard, Ibiza bag?

We are always looking for meaningful collaborations with More Joy, and Ibiza is a special place for the brand. It was in Ibiza in 2019 when some of the first ideas for More Joy formed, so it’s great to come full circle.

What were the other ideas for the ‘more’ tag line?

That would be telling: We generated a lot but felt the More Ibiza was the best one to go with.

You’re a fan of Ibiza – where is your go-to spot on the island?

It’s now The Standard, of course!

You can dance anywhere in Ibiza; the island has a special atmosphere and you feel very free and relaxed there. Although the clubs can be great our favourite parties have always been at a villa with friends.

What would you pack in this bag on a day in Ibiza?

The More Ibiza tote is the perfect beach bag; not only is it practical it looks good.  I would pack a towel, phone, headphones, iPad just in case I have to do some work, Australian gold, (haha I know I should be saying SPF50!) I always pack a change of trunks and shirt if we have a relaxed evening on the beach.

Any secret Ibiza tips?

I really want to explore the island more, particularly the northwest which friends tell me is more wild. I’ve been recommended a secluded lagoon in place called Portixtol and a little-known enclosed bay north of San Miguel that requires a bit of a trek to find.  I also love Formentera, the pink sandy beaches of Ses Illetes in the off season is a dream.

Tell us about the best night you ever had in Ibiza.

A long time ago a party in a villa that was apparently once owned by Russ Meyers. The details are hazy and my memory of the whole thing seems like a dream.

Tell us about a fun night you had at The Standard.

I have had so many: Perfect parties at The Standard London are always a laugh and great for people watching. The Boom Boom Room at The Standard, High Line is always a highlight of the year. Post-Met we would all meet there and dance the night away.
