5 Things To Do in Downtown LA This Weekend

There's a lot going on in Los Angeles this weekend besides the Oscars, especially Downtown. Of course while in-residence at The Standard, Downtown LA you can enjoy our rooftop pool, Ping-Pong tables, and The Standard Biergarten ... here's 5 things to do while you're out.

1. Grab a treat at Bottega Louie

Bottega Louie is like the Laudrée of the West Coast, step into the clean, light-filled, ginormous room to enjoy a macaron and espresso or sit down for a lunch of salmon tartar and a frisée salad. The best part about it, it's only three blocks away. But don't forget to save room for dinner at our 24/7 Restaurant.

Bottega Louie
700 S Grand Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90017
6:30am - 11pm

2. Walk into the Bradbury Building, just do it

You've seen the building's magical Victorian atrium in movies like Bladerunner and The Artist. Trust us, the fifty-foot high court with open cage elevators, marble stairs, and ornate iron railings is even more unbelievable in person. Interested to see more of Downtown's historic buildings? Book a walking tour.

Bradbury Building
304 Broadway
Los Angeles, CA 90013
9am - 5pm

3. Stop by MOCA and see Nan Goldin

Nan Goldin, Picnic on the Esplanade, Boston, 1973

With an emphasis on recent acquisitions, Room to Live features selected works from artists like Fischli & Weiss, Rodney McMillian, and Marnie Weber. Themes of existential questioning and extravagant subjectivity weave throughout the exhibition. On display until March 31, 2014.

MOCA
250 S Grand Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90012
Open Thursday - Monday from 11am

4. Visit The Last Bookstore

You know we're the reading type, so we truly hope this isn't the last bookstore, but if it is then so be it - we need nothing more. Their selection is insane, entire rooms are filled with books for under $1, and hidden stacks (with gems to be found) are all around.

Join Erwin Raphael McManus on March 1st at 8pm for a reading from his new book, The Artisan SoulSaturday, a manifesto for human creativity and the beginning of a new renaissance.

The Last Bookstore
453 South Spring Street (near West 5th Street)
Los Angeles, CA 90013
Open at 10am daily.

5. Catch a game at the Staples Center

Ok, so we've all heard of it. It's massive with a bright lights, big city kind of feel. But it's actually really cool, if you haven't been to a game there yet then now is the time.
