Made at the standard

London's Artists in Residence; Chet Lo + Harris Reed

Say a big hello to Harris Reed and Chet Lo, two of the capital’s most exciting fashion designers.

Both graduates of neighbouring arts school Central Saint Martins, designers Chet and Harris now design, work and make magic happen from The Standard, London in the heart of King’s Cross.

Step into a futuristic world of colour with Chet; fresh from showcasing debut collection for London Fashion Week with incubator Fashion East where he pushed the boundaries of traditional knitwear into a realm of 3D swimwear - already loved by the likes of Sza and Kylie Jenner.

British-American designer Harris burst into the world of fashion during his studies and is best known for fighting for fluidity, dressing Harry Styles, and creating one of the Met Gala 2021’s best-dressed looks for non-other than Iman

Read on to find out more about how their hotel-based studios came to be and what iconic looks have been created within these walls, as well as getting a glimpse at some behind-the-scenes images from the creation of their most recent collections...

Chet Lo by Laura Allard-Fleischl for The Standard, London
“I met Elli (Managing Director at The Standard, London) some months ago, having graduated and about to embark on my first London Fashion Week collection. At the time, like everyone, I was working from home, filling my bedroom with endless knitwear ideas and attempting to bring my first Fashion Week collection to life in a somewhat restricted space. The opportunity to set up a studio in The Standard, London was a dream come true – in fact, I’m not sure I’d even have dared to dream it. The creative platform and the support they have given me has been second to none; I also can’t not mention the fun I’ve had along the way – it really has been a ball!” - Chet Lo

Harris Reed by Dave Benett for Sunday Times Style in Decimo
“As a designer, I’m working to create a really comfortable space for any single person to be in, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or anything else. And that’s why my studio at The Standard, London couldn’t be in a better place; we share the very same values and that the hotel and the whole family who work there have shown me so much love, it is just a truly gorgeous accepting space for all. It’s been the most incredible gift to be here, not just having a fabulous studio space to work from, but also being part of something so creative and meaningful. I’m truly forever grateful.” - Harris Reed
