As the Shift Leader for The Standard, Brussels you will work in partnership with the Front Office Manager and support all aspects of our Front Office operations team; to create a seamless arrival and departure experience (as well as everything between) for our guests.
You’ll also oversee and be directly responsible for quality and service across the rooms division, ensuring the team are fully trained throughout the full guest journey and our service standards. You’ll have a meticulous eye for detail and work in partnership with the Executive Housekeeper to oversee all accommodation services on the day, making sure room allocations, VIPs and guest requests are arranged by our Guest Experience team, and our Guest Accommodation and public areas are presented and staged correctly to welcome guests.
As a natural team leader, you remain calm during challenging situations whether it involves guest complaints, scheduling issues or staff members. No two days are ever the same and you will need to flexible to adapt to changing situations whenever they arise, be it a busy day, coordinating any maintenance issues with the property team, dealing with an emergency situation or supporting other areas of the hotel when issues arise.
Your keen eye for details means that you never miss a thing, and your presence within the operation will ensure that our property is maintained meticulously and each area staged to optimize our guest’s experience. In addition to overseeing your team and service delivery there are a number of additional management duties you will undertake.
This is not a ‘Standard’ Shift Leader role so you will need to have serious stamina and passion, be highly social, upbeat, and friendly; confident and handle pressure well; thrive in a high-volume, high-energy environment and able to work equally well both independently and as part of a the front office team.

A minimum of 3 years of experience as a shift supervisor or front desk supervisor acquired in a similar lifestyle hotel or a large 4 or 5-star hotel in Brussels is appreciated for this position.
Duties & Responsibilities
Front Desk Operations & Supervision
Supervise Front Desk Associates to ensure full compliance with hotel policies, procedures, regulations, and service standards.
Ensure Front Desk operations run smoothly and professionally at all times.
Perform all Front Desk operational duties when assigned or required.
Provide operational support in the absence of the Front Office Manager.
Manage night operations when applicable, ensuring proper end-of-day closure and timely delivery of reports.
Team Management & Training
Ensure appropriate and effective training of all Front Desk Associates, including on-the-job, off-the-job, and 15-minute trainings.
Coach, develop, and support team members to maintain high service standards.
Ensure Front Desk team members are continually updated on hotel rates, packages, and promotions.
Guest Service & Experience
Ensure smooth and efficient check-in and check-out processes for all guests.
Supervise VIP arrivals and ensure proper meet-and-greet procedures for The Standard VIP guests.
Identify, resolve, and follow up on guest complaints and operational issues efficiently, ensuring guest satisfaction.
Ensure all guest requests, preferences, and information are accurately updated in OPERA and communicated to relevant departments.
Coordination & Communication
Ensure all available communication tools are fully utilized and that relevant information is handed over effectively to the next shift through briefings and shift reports.
Inform all concerned departments of room moves, no-shows, early arrivals, special requests, repeat guests, and guest preferences.
Maintain clear and effective communication across departments to support seamless operations.
Administrative & Systems Responsibilities
Check the House Count to establish the selling strategy for the shift and monitor it regularly, responding promptly to any changes.
Ensure all arrivals, departures, no-shows, extensions, amendments, and OPERA-related transactions are processed in a timely manner to avoid errors or confusion.
Conduct daily checks of reservation traces and packages and ensure follow-up with the relevant departments.
Be fully aware of the hotel Credit Policy and supervise strict compliance; inform management and concerned departments of any potential credit risks (no posting exceptions allowed).
Supervise compliance with cash handling procedures to ensure accurate cash floats at the Front Desk.
Maintain a thorough working knowledge of OPERA PMS, Shiji, and related systems.
