The Standard is one of the most culturally engaged hotels in the world. Hotels with real cultural life, an inclusive spirit and true creative attitude. A destination layered with events and amusements that leaves you with an uplifted feeling...
At the cultural heart-beat of The Standard are our team who bring to life our spaces, engage with our guests and vibrate social energy, day and night across our numerous bars, restaurants, event and guest spaces. Here at The Standard, we take a slightly different approach to our people and look far and wide for individuals that bring a unique perspective with them to our team (not a 5 page CV). We do not ask you to conform, read from a script or follow the rules (ok sometimes there are rules) but not when it comes down to you being able to express yourself or celebrate your individuality.
We are defined by our richness of personality, diversity of background and lifestyle and are now looking for a Director of Sales who will embody our ‘Anything but Standard’ ethos!
Your role
As our Director of Sales, your primary responsibility will be to develop and execute a strategic sales plan that aligns with the hotel’s broader business goals. Working closely with the Hotel Manager, Executive Team, and Global Sales teams, you will lead the sales function in London, driving revenue growth across all market segments. A key aspect of your role will be setting clear objectives for the sales & events team, monitoring their performance, and ensuring targets are achieved.
You will oversee a proactive team of Sales Managers and Events Managers, coaching and developing them to meet their individual and collective targets. Your leadership will ensure that the team’s efforts align with the hotel’s overarching sales objectives and strategies. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the Director of Events to ensure smooth business flow to reactive teams, while also spearheading proactive initiatives to drive revenue across both sales and events functions. This will involve identifying new opportunities, creating strategic partnerships, and optimizing existing resources to maximize revenue potential.
In a broader strategic capacity, you will take a lead role in defining the hotel’s revenue budget, working closely with the Director of Revenue. You will be responsible for translating the revenue goals into actionable annual sales plans, allocating objectives across your team to maximize market share, average rate, and RevPAR. This includes setting KPIs, assigning clear responsibilities, and continuously monitoring performance to ensure all goals are met.
Additionally, you will collaborate with the Director Of Marketing to develop promotions and packages that support both transient and direct sales. These initiatives will be designed to meet or exceed our monthly revenue forecasts, ensuring that the sales strategy is both creative and data-driven, with a focus on delivering measurable ROI.
As The Standard’s flagship property in Europe, The Standard, London, represents a key part of our global growth strategy. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our broader sales and business development plan, targeting key inbound markets and identifying future pan-European business leads for all Standard properties. You will also manage the hotel’s annual RFP process, ensuring alignment with long-term objectives.
As the brand expands within Europe, you will continue to refine our sales and business development strategy, driving key account growth and positioning Standard properties for success in international markets.
