Donald Robertson's New Book Is Fashion in a Nutshell

In the midst of Fashion Week, with high-production runway shows kicking off uptown and down, stone-faced models strutting to and fro, celebs stalking the front rows, bloggers blogging self-serious pieces on the state of the industry, it can be easy to lose sight of a simple fact: fashion is nuts! Delightfully so! It’s the crazy, kooky, colorful characters that make fashion fun, and without them, it would just be clothes.

Lo-fi in the best possible way, hilariously literal, Donald “Drawbertson” Robertson’s latest project “Fashion Is Nuts” is a glorious celebration of “all the fashion nuts in the world who continually entertain us with their creativity, extravagance and vision.” Amen. And the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Robertson, a creative director for Estée Lauder, and a basement artist/illustrator by morning and night, has become something of an Instagram star with his uncanny likeness of fashion icons made out of walnuts and gaffers tape, including Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington, Kanye West, and the rest of the gang.
