TheirStories: Joelle Taylor in conversation with Kat Hudson

TheirStories is back in The Library Lounge, celebrating London’s thriving LGBTIQA+ community with cultural discussions, talks, performances and events, curated by Laurie Belgrave, founder of The Chateau.

This month we welcome a true legend of the queer scene, for a unique insight into London’s queer cultural history. Joelle Taylor is an award-winning poet and author. Her most recent poetry collection C+NTO & Othered Poems was published in June 2021 and won the TS Eliot Prize for Poetry 2021, and is the subject of the Radio 4 arts documentary Butch. C+nto was longlisted for the Rathbone Folio Prize, the Ondaatje Prize and was named by The Telegraph, the NewStatesman, The White Review & Times Literary Supplement as one of the best poetry books of the year, as well as DIVA magazine’s Book of the Month, and awarded 5 stars by the Morning Star.

Joelle will be interviewed by Kat Hudson, London-based artist, curator, DJ, writer and founding editor of LGBTQ+ arts, nightlife and events magazine, Lesley. Kat co-curated The Rebel Dykes Art & Archive show in 2021 and will lead an in-depth discussion on Joelle’s work, as well as exploring London’s lesbian scene over the last four decades.

After the conversation, Joelle will perform a short reading from her most recent book C+nto & Othered Poems.
