Easy Grocery Store Wellness to Ease Your Body & Mind

If you can't access your usual wellness treatments and specialty items, just head to your nearest grocery store for these simple and affordable options to keep yourself feelin' good and healthy.
These are trying times, and a lot of us are feeling uncertain, tense, and anxious. We could all use a spa day, right?! Preferably at The Standard Spa, Miami Beach. Doesn't a scrub in the hammam, a steam, or a mud bath sound absolutely divine right now? Or a massage with essential oils? Or like, literally just a giant glass of wine while dipping our toes in the pool. Or like...OK, we'll stop. Will just continue adding to our must-do list for when we reopen.

But in the meantime, we're here to bring all that relaxation and restoration right to your home, with Miami Moments. Through how-to illustrations, videos, charts, wellness tips, shopping lists and more, we're sharing how you can recreate the best of our beloved hotel and spa on your own, through fresh new content to help you chill out and take a mental vacay from the madness.

Next up, from our very own, legendary Lori Bell is a series of grocery store wellness items. If you can't access your usual wellness treatments, or those herbal supplement costs are adding up, or you just want to feel all nice and healthy (which we all should), head to your local grocer to pick up these simple and affordable items to give yourself and your immunity system a boost. Colorful Fruits & Veggies

Grab all the greens, rainbow-colored fruits and vegetables you can find. They're loaded with phytonutrients and fiber, which make the good bacteria thrive, helping your immune system—broccoli, red and orange peppers, asparagus, leafy greens, kale, carrots, and berries. If it's colorful, buy it! Organic is best. Think of a rainbow. Make it a fun and creative process, knowing you are giving your gut some loving.

Garlic & Onion

Garlic and Onions are your new lover. They have potent antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. They feed your gut the fiber and probiotics it needs. So start chopping those garlic, onions, scallions, and shallots to your cooking. Cooked or raw works, just eat them!

Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate will chase those blues away and ease your anxiety. It's got to be dark chocolate, 70% cocoa. It has high tryptophan content, which the body uses to turn into mood-enhancing neurotransmitters, increasing serotonin in the brain. A few pieces a day to keep you feelin' bright.

Tea

Feeling anxious? Ditch the cocktails and brew yourself a pot of green tea. It contains anxiety-reducing theanine, or have a cup of chamomile which has glycine, that helps relax the nerves and offer a mild sedative effect. Add in some CBD oil too!

Soup

Bone broth is the immune booster! Broths made from grass-fed animals are loaded with amino acids, which are excellent immunity builders. Plus, they taste good. The classic chicken soup never fails. Ditch the processed foods, go easy on the carbs, alcohol, and sugar. Give yourself some love and eat well!

Spices

Ginger, garlic, turmeric, cinnamon, thyme, and pepper are your new best friends. They pack a potent anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antiviral punch.
