  1. I have never experienced diving before. Do you offer beginner's classes?

    The most suitable program would be the Discover Scuba Diving at The Standard, Maldives. No prior experience is required and you will get to experience the fun of diving under the direct supervision of our divemasters.

  2. What excursions are available and how much do they cost?

  4. Which water sports activities are available and how much do they cost?

    The Standard, Maldives offer non-motorized sports such as kayaking, windsurfing, and paddle-boarding, as well as motorized sports such as tubing and jet-skiing. You can contact us to see the pricing.

  5. Can I swim with manta rays and whale sharks?

    Looking to swim with Manta Rays and Whale Sharks? You can do that at The Standard, Maldives! We are located close to UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Hanifaru Bay, renowned as one of the world’s largest manta feeding hotspots, renowned for spotting marine megafauna such as mantas and whale sharks – and, the best time to swim and snorkel with these oceanic giants is usually from May - November.

  1. Do we need to schedule activities before arrival?

    There is no need to pre-arrange your activities at The Standard, Maldives - we can help you arrange your activities upon arrival, or after check-in.

  2. Is there evening entertainment at the resort?

    At The Standard, Maldives, we have our weekly activity schedule. From cinema on the beach, DJ nights to pool parties and boduberu cultural performances, you can join our team and other guests for pleasant evening to wrap up your days in paradise.

  3. How much do activities such as volleyball and tennis cost?

    Tennis, volleyball, and the use of The Standard, Maldives gym are free of charge.

  4. Do you have a babysitting service?

    Babysitting is available on request at The Standard, Maldives and is subject to charge.

  5. Do you have bicycles on the island?

    Bicycles are available at The Standard, Maldives, free of charge.

  6. Do you have a kid's club or kid's activities?

    Our Lil Shark Kid's Club at The Standard, Maldives with its own pool, has programmed activities for our little guests.

Transportation

  1. How far is the resort from the airport?

    The Standard Maldives is conveniently located in the RAA ATOLL of Maldives, which is 147 kilometers from the Male’ international airport. The Standard Maldives resort is reachable by seaplane transfers that last approximately 35 minutes.

  2. What are the baggage allowances for seaplane?

    Baggage allowances for seaplane is 20 kilograms (20kgs) for checked baggage and 5 kilograms (5kgs) hand luggage per person. Excess baggage will be subject to additional charge and payable at the airport.

  3. Can you tell us the seaplane timings in advance?

    As flight timings are arranged by our third party seaplane operator TransMaldivian Airways and are dependent on international arrival and departure flight details, The Standard, Maldives can inform guests on an individual basis but cannot confirm a general timetable of seaplane timings in advance. They are subject to slight changes due to the nature of the operation, but you will know official timings when you arrive to the seaplane check-in counter.

  4. Do you have boat transfer or ferry to the resort?

    The easiest way to reach The Standard Maldives is by seaplane, so we don't offer a boat transfer or ferry boat, both for your safety and your comfort.

  5. How do I book the seaplane from Male International Airport?

    Once you've booked your stay at The Standard, Maldives, email mv.reservations@standardhotels.com with the following details:

    1. Full names of all travelers, as it appears on your passport.
    2. Your arrival and departure flight numbers.
    We require these details at least 7 days prior to your arrival date in order to arrange seaplane transfers with optimal timings (we don't want you to wait at the airport for a long time!). We can also arrange a same day seaplane to our resort - keep in mind that your international flight should land for arrival at Male' International airport prior to 15:00 in order for us to arrange our same day seaplane service. 

  6. What are the operating hours of the seaplane transfers?

    The Standard, Maldives team can arrange a same day seaplane to our resort - keep in mind that your international flight should land for arrival at Male International Airport prior to 15:00 in order for us to arrange our same day seaplane service. For departure from the Standard Maldives, your international flight should depart from the airport no earlier than 09:30 in the morning in order for us to arrange same day seaplane transfers. Please contact our team at mv.reservations@standardhotels.com, and they will do their best to accommodate your request.

  1. What are the languages spoken?

    Dhivehi is the national language spoken by the locals, but English is widely used in the country. At The Standard, Maldives we have a multi-cultural team, and there are team members who speak Russian, French, Spanish, German, Arabic, Thai, and Indian.

  2. What is the usual climate and weather in the Maldives?

    The Maldives is a perfect destination year-round although there are two seasons, one between May and October when intermittent rain showers occur, followed by the less humid and drier season from November to April. A tropical serenity located on the equator, the Maldives enjoys a year-round idyllic climate with temperatures between 23°C and 32°C.

  3. What is the time zone in the Maldives?

    The Maldives is 5 hours ahead of the GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). All timings at The Standard, Maldives are on Male time.

  4. Where is the Maldives?

    The Maldives is a group of 1,200 coral islands that are located in the Indian Ocean to the south and southwest of India and Sri Lanka, respectively.

  5. What currencies are used in the Maldives and in the resort?

    The national currency is Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR). The resort at The Standard, Maldives accepts payments in US Dollar.

  6. Do I need a visa to enter the Maldives?

    No, you do not need a visa to enter the Maldives. All travelers are given a 30-day visa upon arrival. To receive this, each traveler must present a passport (valid for at least six months), and a valid return air ticket to a destination where the passenger has permission to enter, together with any visa required for that destination.

  7. What credit cards are accepted?

    The resort at The Standard, Maldives accepts major credit cards including American Express, Visa, Master Card and Union Pay.

  1. What is the difference between Lagoon & Ocean Beach?

    The difference between Lagoon & Ocean Beach rooms at The Standard, Maldives is location and view. Lagoon beach is located on lagoon side facing to sunset. Ocean beach is located on Ocean side with sunrise view and will have more privacy.

  2. What is the difference between Lagoon & Ocean Overwater?

    The Difference between the Lagoon & the Ocean Overwater rooms at The Standard, Maldives is the location and view. Both types of villas have the same interior layout. Lagoon Overwater is located on Lagoon side facing part of the lagoon and island. Ocean Overwater is located on ocean side and will have clear ocean view with privacy from the island, and they are closer to our house reef.

  3. Does Lagoon Overwater Villa or Ocean Overwater Villa have a sunset or sunrise view?

    Depending on the time of year, the sun may set North West of the Ocean Overwater Villas at The Standard, Maldives, however not all villas of this category will have a clear view of the sunset. We are unable to guarantee villas with sunset view.

  4. Are children allowed in Overwater villas?

    The Standard, Maldives do not have any age restriction to accommodate children in the Overwater villas. However, upon arrival, parents have to sign a disclaimer in order to accommodate children aged 11 years and below.

  11. Which villas have sunset or sunrise views?

    The Lagoon Beach Villas at The Standard, Maldives are sunset-facing. Ocean Beach Villas are sunrise-facing. None of our overwater villas will have clear sunset or sunrise view.

  12. Can we confirm our villa location?

    The Standard, Maldives team will do their best to allocate the ideal villa for you, however they are unable to confirm villa location in advance due to constant changes in their booking pattern and availability. Room allocation can be confirmed only on arrival day. However, worry not as we will try our best to accommodate your request.

  13. Is the seaplane included in our villa rate? And if not, how much does it cost?

    The seaplane transfer is not included in the villa rate for The Standard, Maldives. You can find the price of return seaplane transfer in the booking engine on our website.

  14. Do you provide free water in the villa?

    At The Standard, Maldives, we provide complimentary bottles of house-filtered still or sparkling water to every villa daily. If you’d like more, you can reach out to our Front Office team and they’ll help you out.

  15. How many people can stay in the villa?

    For our one-bedroom overwater villas at The Standard, Maldives, we can accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 children, or maximum 3 adults. For our one-bedroom beach villas, we can accommodate up to 4 adults.   1. Do you have private dining experiences?

    Looking for a private dining experience at The Standard, Maldives? We offer private beachside dinner, private island picnic or dinner, floating breakfast in your own villa, and more. We recommend reaching out at least 2 weeks prior to check availability for your requested experience.

  2. Should I make restaurant reservations in advance?

    We recommend reaching out 1-2 weeks in advance to secure your appointment as during peak periods at The Standard, Maldives it is possible that reservations get booked up quickly. Please contact our team at mv.reservations@standardhotels.com, and they will do their best to accommodate your request.

  3. Which meal plans are available?

    You can choose between the following meal plans at The Standard, Maldives: Breakfast Board, Half Board (breakfast and dinner), Full Board (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and All-Inclusive.

  4. Does the resort cater for special dietary requirements?

    The Standard, Maldives caters for special dietary requirements. On arrival, please discuss any dietary requirements or allergies you may have with our Island Host. Our culinary team can then prepare a menu specially tailored to your requirements and preferences.

  5. Is in-villa dining service available?

    In-Villa Service Dining is available at The Standard, Maldives from 7:00AM - 12:00AM (Food service 7:00AM-11:45PM)

    At The Standard, Maldives, we do not have a dress code on the island; however, we recommend that you do not enter the bars and the restaurants in your swimwear. Shoes are optional, and many guests prefer to be barefoot.

  8. Are all drinks in the bar included in the AlI-Inclusive meal package?

    A selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks can be enjoyed as part of the All-Inclusive meal plan at The Standard, Maldives. Furthermore, our bars also offer a wide variety of premium beers, spirits, and wines at an extra charge as per menu.

  9. Can I upgrade my meal plan?

    Due to privacy laws, The Standard, Maldives prohibits the operation of unmanned aerial systems or drones. We kindly request guests to refrain from flying drones anywhere on the island.

  2. Is there a shop at the resort?

    There is The Standard Boutique at The Standard, Maldives and a shop at the Dive Center.

  3. Do I need to make reservations at the spa in advance?

    All Spa services at The Standard, Maldives require reservations (even if services are included in your reservation with us). We recommend reaching out 1-2 weeks in advance to secure your appointment.

  4. Is there WiFi on the island?

    The Standard, Maldives offer guests free WiFi in all villas and public areas to ensure a great holiday experience.

  5. Are life jackets provided?

    Life jackets are provided in each villa at The Standard, Maldives.
