Work with unparalleled views on our 11th floor rooftop bar in central London! Spring/Summer seasonal work, April to October, with opportunities to transfer within the hotel’s restaurants and bars thereafter.

The Standard sets the bar high again this spring with the relaunch of The Rooftop in April – an open-air bar and terrace that turns the London skyline into the perfect backdrop for cocktails, beers, and great music. This year, we will celebrate our legendary New York rooftop bars and clubs with New York-style pizza and Italian American snacks!

Open to guests and visitors throughout the summer months and hired out for private events, The Rooftop is the stage for our most striking parties and performances. Joyful, playful, and picturesque, this is a hidden gem set high up and off the beaten path.

We are now looking for an experienced Host to join our Rooftop opening team.

Your role

As a Host at The Rooftop, you will become part of an exceptional team that will launch this exciting venue onto the London scene.

You’ll be our guests’ all important first and last point of contact meeting them on arrival and escorting them to their tables, on hand to deal with their queries, provide information and oversee table plans. As a host to our guests, you will add a touch of personality and theatre to their experience, making our guests feel welcome whilst they visit The Standard and our energetic and vibrant city. You will therefore need to be highly social, upbeat and friendly; confident and can handle pressure well; thrive in a busy high volume, high energy environment and can manage multiple tasks and guest with ease.

You will be passionate about service, very well organised with an exceptional working knowledge of restaurant and bar operations, and order of service. We expect very busy days, so prior experience working in a high-volume venue is important – and a love of the outdoors, as you will be outside all Spring/Summer!

Do you have what it takes to be a Host for The Rooftop at Standard, London

Prior experience as a Host is essential for this role. You will also have an uncompromised and natural flair for service and be able to build genuine relationships with guests. As a Rooftop Host, you will need…

  • Prior experience as a Host or Restaurant Receptionist, ideally gained in a similar busy restaurant, pub, ‘Lifestyle’ boutique hotel, rooftop bar or restaurant pop-up
  • Happy to work outside for your entire shift, come rain or shine
  • To be confident in restaurant and bar operations and service, with a passion for food and drinks
  • Highly social, motivated, and pro-active; acting with professionalism and positivity in all interactions
  • Available full-time with full flexibility to work Monday – Sunday, and happy to work in our other hotel restaurants when we are unable to open or close The Rooftop due to inclement weather
  • Prior experience using SevenRooms and squirrel epos
  • Available for The Rooftop season April – October (initial contracts will be for the season, with the opportunity to move into another hotel position when the venue closes in the late Autumn)
  • As well as Host experience, we are actively seeking candidates with a diverse range of lifestyle skills and welcome applications from those in the arts, music, and entertainment industries
