Will I be welcomed at the airport?
On arrival at Velana International Airport in Malé, you will need to clear immigration and collect your luggage before coming out into the arrival hall, where our airport representatives will be waiting for you in front of the arrival gate, holding a board displaying our iconic upside-down hotel brand logo of “The Standard”. You will be escorted to the resort transfer.

Can a speedboat transfer be arranged from Malé to The Standard, Maldives?
No, direct speedboat transfers from Malé are not available. To ensure a comfortable and efficient journey, guests may travel to the resort via seaplane transfer or domestic flight followed speedboat transfer to the resort. These are the most convenient and recommended transfer options available to reach The Standard, Maldives.

Who arranges the transfer if I book directly with the resort?
The transfers will be arranged by The Standard, Maldives. Direct seaplane provider is Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA), while there are Manta Air and Maldivian Airline serve the domestic flight from Malé to Dharavandhoo Airport.

What are baggage allowances?
For seaplane, baggage allowance is 20kg per person and hand luggage allowance is 5 kg per person. Any excess weight over this will be charged at US$ 6.04+ taxes per kg at the time of check-in. Luggage Excess Fee is subject to change without any prior notification. The weight for any bag should not exceed 32kg. Please also note that children below 2 years flying free of charge do not have any luggage weight.
For domestic flight, baggage allowance is 20kg per person and hand luggage allowance is 5 kg per person. Any excess weight over this will be charged at US$ 2.00+ taxes per kg at the time of check-in. Carry on hand luggage allowance is 20” x 12” x 7″. Please also note that children below 2 years flying free of charge do not have any luggage weight. Please ensure provided names are correct as per passport, the domestic airline charge USD 100 for name changes.

Is the resort a kid-friendly resort in the Maldives?
Recognised among the best family hotels in the Maldives by Condé Nast Traveller, we are proud to say that children are special guests to us. Interactive Lil’ Shark kids club offers a dedicated kids' swimming pool for safe water play, an outdoor art hut where children can enjoy creative arts and crafts activities, an outdoor obstacle course that encourages adventure and physical activity, and indoor activity areas with a variety of games and entertainment suitable for different age groups. For older children and teenagers, there is also a separate Teens Lounge, providing a space to game, relax, and socialise independently. In addition to these facilities, the resort offers a range of family-friendly activities and experiences throughout the island.

How far is the resort from Velana International Airport in Malé?
Our resort is approximately 148 kilometres from Velana International Airport in Malé, which is accessible via a 45-minute seaplane transfer or a 30-minute domestic flight to Dharavandhoo Airport, followed by a 25-minute speedboat transfer to the resort.

Do you have a doctor on the island?
Yes, we have a resident doctor on the island and a clinic equipped to assist with common medical concerns and emergencies.

What are the infant and child ages for the resort?
0 – 1.99 years is considered as an infant and 2 – 11.99 years is considered as a child.

Are there any spa or wellness facilities at the resort?
Yes, we have The Standard Spa, our resort’s overwater wellness centre, offering a variety of wellness and relaxation treatments. You can book a session through the Resort App, our Front Desk, or directly with our team in The Standard Spa.

Are drones allowed on the island?
Due to privacy laws, The Standard, Maldives prohibits the operation of unmanned aerial systems or drones. We kindly request guests to refrain from flying drones anywhere on the island. That said, we have our on-island photographer, on hand who will be happy to capture those wonderful moments for you. Our on-island photography team offers photography, videography, and aerial content services, all available at an additional charge during your stay.

Does the resort offer free cancellation for a full refund?
Room rate refunds for cancelled reservations may be available depending on the rate type and booking conditions selected at the time of booking. What are the accommodation options at the resort?
We offer overwater and beach villas, with a range of categories including one-bedroom villas, two-bedroom villas, and The Standard Residence, which is perched above the lagoon facing the Indian Ocean. All villas at The Standard, Maldives feature a private pool.

What kind of sockets do you have in the guest villas?
We provide international sockets. You can conveniently use your electronic devices and chargers without the need for any adapters or converters. The international sockets are designed to accommodate various plug types, ensuring that guests from different regions can easily connect their devices during their stay. We do also have adapters available on request in case there is a need for it.

Is it possible to accommodate 2 adults and 2 children, or 3 adults and 1 child, in an Ocean Reef Water Villa?
The Ocean Reef Water Villa category is typically designed to accommodate 2 adults. It is therefore still possible to accommodate 2 adults & 2 children below 12 years old but unfortunately not possible for 3 adults and 1 child in the Ocean Reef Water Villa.

How many villas are there at the resort?
We have 115 villas in total, consisting of 88 overwater villas and 27 beach villas.

What is the level of accessibility (wheelchair access) at the resort?
Due to sandy terrain on the island, steps around facilities and tight spaces in villas, the use of a wheelchair will be very restrictive. Guests with walking difficulties can be assisted by complimentary buggy services.

Can I combine more than one meal plan during my stay?
Combining meal plans within the same booking prior to arrival is, unfortunately, not applicable. However, if you wish to upgrade your meal plan during your stay, that is possible. Please note that guests staying in the same villa have to be on the same meal plan.

Guests may choose from Bed & Breakfast, which includes daily breakfast; Half Board, which includes breakfast and dinner; Full Board, which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner; and our most comprehensive option, the Premium All-Inclusive. The Premium All-Inclusive includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner across our dining venues, as well as minibar refreshments, bottled water, soft drinks, coffee, tea, and a selection of alcoholic beverages from the All-Inclusive menu. With access to a variety of restaurants offering diverse cuisines and dining experiences, the Premium All-Inclusive Plan is a popular choice for guests seeking a worry-free culinary journey. Please note that In-Villa Dining is not included in any meal plan and is charged separately.

Where is the Maldives?
The Maldives is a group of 1,200 coral islands that are located in the Indian Ocean to the south and southwest of India and Sri Lanka, respectively.

Do I need a visa to enter the Maldives?
No, you do not need a visa to enter the Maldives. All travelers are given a 30-day visa upon arrival. To receive this, each traveler must present a passport (valid for at least six months), and a valid return air ticket to a destination where the passenger has permission to enter, together with any visa required for that destination.

The resort at The Standard, Maldives accepts major credit cards including American Express, Visa, Master Card and Union Pay.

Dhivehi is the national language spoken by the locals, but English is widely used in the country. At The Standard, Maldives we have a multi-cultural team, and there are team members who speak Russian, Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, Hindi, Indonesian, Tagalog, Thai, and many more.

What is the usual climate and weather in the Maldives?
The Maldives is a perfect destination year-round although there are two seasons, one between May and October when intermittent rain showers occur, followed by the less humid and drier season from November to April. A tropical serenity located on the equator, the Maldives enjoys a year-round idyllic climate with temperatures between 23°C and 32°C.

Guests can explore the vibrant marine life through house reef, coral garden, turtle, manta ray, and UV night snorkelling excursions, as well as dolphin watching and fishing trips. For those seeking active water sports, options include kayaking, glass kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, monoskiing, SeaNXT underwater scooters, jet skiing, and fun tube rides. The resort also features a full-service dive centre offering Discover Scuba Diving experiences, PADI certification courses, and guided dives for certified divers.

Yes, we offer diving classes for beginner. No prior experience is required, and you will get to experience the excitement of diving under the direct supervision of our divemaster.
