Kitchen Trainee

Opened in May 2025, The Standard, Brussels brings 180 rooms, a rooftop garden, and a greenhouseu2011style lobby to the city’s Northern Quarter. Designed as a hub for culture and connection, the hotel blends contemporary hospitality with the brand’s signature edge. Throughout the building, a collection of public and private event spaces hosts a steady rhythm of gatherings, collaborations, and cultural moments. We’re looking for engaged, curious trainees ready for a minimum 3u2011month school internship in an environment that values creativity and individuality. SUMMARY OF INTERNSHIP:

Support the kitchen team in daily operations by assisting with preparation, service, and cleaning tasks to ensure a smooth workflow and guest satisfaction.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Preparation:

  • Assist with basic food preparation (washing, peeling, cutting, chopping)
  • Help set up ingredients and mise en place
  • Prepare simple items such as garnishes, salads, cold sauces, soups, starters, and desserts

During service:

  • Support chefs with preparations and follow instructions precisely
  • Assist with simple tasks or plating when required

After service:

  • Clear and clean workstations and equipment
  • Ensure proper storage and hygienic conservation of food items
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen
  • Follow all hygiene and safety standards

Additional Tasks:

  • Help receive, check and store deliveries according to the chef’s instructions
  • Perform other duties assigned by the kitchen team

 

SKILLS:

  • Basic understanding of kitchen operations
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow instructions and work methodically
  • Respect for hygiene and safety standards
  • Team spirit, reliability, and willingness to learn
  • Adaptability and openness to feedback
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in a fastu2011paced environment
  • Languages: French or English (both are a plus)
