From LA to London: The World of Soulection

For over a decade, Soulection has been quietly shaping the sound of a generation. Founded by Joe Kay in 2011, the Los Angeles-based music platform, record label and global community has become a home for forward-thinking artists and listeners who exist somewhere between hip-hop, R&B, electronic and everything in between.

What started as a radio show has grown into a worldwide movement, connecting artists and tastemakers across continents through its influential SoundCloud mixes, Soulection Radio and live shows. With a reputation for discovering what's next before everyone else catches on, Soulection has become less a genre and more a feeling — one built around discovery, connection and good music.

Together with Soulection, we brought the community together across three different moments, find out more below.

Starting at the table

It began with food, conversation and a view. At Decimo, friends, family and tastemakers came together around the table, with the London skyline as a backdrop, Decimo's food on the table and Patron cocktails in hand.

For a community built as much on connection as it is on music, it felt like the right place to start.

Taking it to the airwaves

From the dinner table to the radio room. At Library Lounge, Soulection returned to one of the formats that has defined it from the beginning, with a live radio recording featuring HARUNA.

Radio remains central to Soulection's story — a place where new sounds are shared, artists are discovered and listeners become part of something bigger. Bringing that format into London felt like a meeting of two cultures that have always valued musical discovery.

Ending at Sweeties

And then, naturally, there was the dance floor.

The evening continued at Sweeties for an F&F after-party, soundtracked by Odeal, Dj Mister S and Jada Kai. After a day built around music and discovery, the final chapter was simply about being in the room - listening, dancing and sharing the experience together.

“London has always held a special place in Soulection’s story. It’s a city that embraced us early on and has continued to inspire us. So much of what Soulection represents; community, discovery, global connection, and pushing music forward, feels deeply aligned with the spirit of London. Coming back to celebrate 15 years here feels full circle. We’ve grown alongside a community in London that has supported Soulection for years, and being able to bring people together through music, conversation, food, and shared experiences throughout the week made this moment about much more than an anniversary. It was a celebration of the relationships and cultural exchange that have shaped Soulection over the last 15 years and London will always be an important part of that story."

Soulection's influence has never been about one particular sound, city or scene. Its strength lies in the community it has created around music - giving artists a platform, listeners a place to discover and people across different corners of the world a reason to connect. For one day in London, we got to experience that world up close. From the dinner table to the airwaves to the dance floor.
