Nu-Disco Kings The Cosmic Kids Throw Down at SPiN LA

LA's Cosmic Kids are an anomaly within the city's nu-disco community – old-soul purists with a taste for the timeless pleasures of disco. So when it came time to celebrate the release of their new limited-edition 12-inch, Freight to My Soul, and its B-side, a languid edit of Fleetwood Mac's Never Going Back Again on the esteemed Chit Chat label, what better place than the equally future-classic SPiN Standard Ping-Pong Club at The Standard, Downtown LA?

Pabst Blue Ribbon kept party-goers addled and paddled while guests donned fresh trucker hats that would make Judah Friedlander blush. Chit Chat label founder Tony Adams inspired a pop-up dance party, spinning classics from Marvin Gaye to next-school disco gems from Todd Terje and Classixx, while the Cosmic Kids played ping-pong and basked in the glow.
