Marco Brambilla's Newest Creation, "Creation" Now Showing

Marco Brambilla, the 3D artist extraordinaire, is currently exhibiting his final film in the trilogy “Megaplex,” titled ‘Creation,’ at the Nicole Klagsburn gallery at 532 West 24th Steet in New York City.

‘Civilization,’ a continually looping 3D video showing the descent from the depths of hell to the gates of heaven – the first film in the trilogy – confronts hotel guests and tipsy club patrons alike with that nagging question of eternal punishment or celestial reward during their 18 floor elevator ride at The Standard Highline.

‘Evolution,’ the second film of the trilogy, premiered at The Standard Miami during Art Basel in 2011. This time, at stake was the history of humankind and all of its conflicts: past, present, and future through the lens of the big-budget epic. Think explosions, guns, and major CGI.

In his final film of the series, Brambilla sets out to capture the essence of current humanity, hyper production and consumption. ‘Creation’ starts out with a big bang that sends the viewer on a spiraling journey through landscapes of clouds, meadows, and burning cityscapes - scenes taken from iconic Hollywood films. Through extreme saturation and over exposure the landscapes, and world, implode. Thus the process of the big bang starts again.

Also showcased at the exhibit is Brambilla’s ‘Atlantis (OV-104),’ a documentary piece that takes an in-depth look at the space shuttle on its final day before being decommissioned. Filmed on analogue video equipment from the 1980s while being house at the John F. Kennedy Space Center, this piece makes Atlantis seem as surreal as the Titanic wreckage on the ocean floor.

The show runs from January 24 to February 23, 2012.
