Brussels gets plenty of attention for its beer, waffles, and EU credentials. Less on people's radar? Its sunset game.
From sweeping city views to rooftop cocktails, we've lined up some of our favourite places to watch the sunset in Brussels.
1. Lila29
We'll kick off with the obvious one. Perched above the city on the 29th floor of The Standard, Brussels, Lila29 serves unbeatable sunset views with a side of cocktails, delicious plates and that feeling that your day just got significantly better.
Drop by for after-work drinks, settle in for dinner, or time your visit with one of our Open Air Rooftop parties, where the music rises as the sun dips behind the skyline. If Brussels had a golden hour headquarters, this would be it.
2. Mont des Arts
Second on the list is a more classic sunset setting: Mont des Arts.A view that stretches across the city's rooftops, overlooking the iconic statue of King Albert I and the spire of the St Mary Magdalene Church, this is a must-see, slightly dramatic sunset spot in the city.
We recommend walking up the stairs of the park to enjoy unobstructed views over the city.
3. Grand-Place
There are few places that feel more Brussels than Grand-Place at dusk.Enjoy one of Brussels' most iconic squares overlooking the Hotel de Ville. Grab a terrace seat, order a Belgian beer, a cone of fries or a waffle if you're feeling sweet, and watch the fading light bounce off the square's gilded facades.
Touristy? Sure. Worth it? Absolutely.
4. Place Poelaert
When the city starts glowing. Place Poelaert comes into its own. Overlooking the Palais de Justice, it's one of the city's most romantic sunset spots. For a better look, take a spin on The View, Brussels' unmissable Ferris Wheel. Enjoy breathtaking views of the city in a more intimate setting.
5. Parc du Cinquantenaire
Some places feel like they were built to capture the sun as it sets. Parc du Cinquantenaire is one of them. Spend the afternoon wandering the gardens or spread out a picnic before returning to the park's Triumphal Arch to watch the sun slip through its arches as it begins to set.
As rainy days come to an end and warmer days start to settle in, why not set some time aside to see the sunset?
