We’ve had our eyes (and ears) on Okay Kaya for a while now. Kaya Wilkins’ musical project has a beautiful solitariness and a melancholy that’s all her own. During a recent stay at The Standard, Hollywood, she spent a day playing with LA filmmaker Thomas Slack for the latest installment of our video series “Songs from a Room.” They walked The Strip, drank tea, goofed off—and Kaya played her heartbreaking ballad “I Die Slow” from the balcony, calling to mind a lineage of chanteuses stretching from Françoise Hardy to Nico to Cat Power.
