Sinéad Harnett Set The Stage at The Parlor

When the Thai-Irish singer Sinéad Harnett comes on, any surface is a dancefloor. Sofas are made for jumping, tables become stages, and that’s exactly what happened when she took the mic at The Parlor. As the city’s preeminent social hub for comfort food, live music, and events, the stage was set for an eventful night of song and dance. For Sinéad’s first-ever show in Thailand, the last-minute gig featured her famous R&B tracks, a divine duet with Becky Hill, and a surprise proposal moment between fans. We caught up with the star once the dust settled to get five quick thoughts on her style, fans, and of course, her friends at The Standard.
Describe your music style in three words.

Soulful, heartfelt, evolving!!

What’s your go-to road trip song?

What a great question! I'd have to say that right now it's Kendrick Lamar 'Mirror' - my road trip songs are always changing haha!
What is the weirdest thing a fan has given you?

Well I wouldn't necessarily call it weird but a fan once got me gigantic balloons with the letters of one of my songs! It was definitely the most extravagant gift and I ended up singing with them behind me on stage :)

What was it like playing your first ever show in Thailand at The Standard?

It was such a special and unforgettable moment for me, singing in the motherland! My heritage means a lot to me and Thailand will always have a special place in my heart. I hadn't been since 2010, so to be back in my roots and see that I now had fans there this time meant the world. The Standard is the COOLEST place in Bangkok and getting to perform there truly felt iconic!!

What was your favorite part about your show?

I think it was the genuine shock and surprise of seeing that I have listeners in Thailand. Feeling their energy and sharing that precious moment together, it being my first ever performance in Thailand and all. I was also SO honoured that a couple got engaged! To have a person want to share one of the biggest days of his life with the crowd made my day! I loved that it was all so last minute- made it feel like a miracle. Thank you so much to everyone at The Standard for having me, and to my amazing fans who showed up for me with not much warning!!
