Sales Manager
Let’s Go Lisbon!
Opening in 2026, The Standard, Lisbon marks our long-anticipated arrival in one of Europe’s most happening cities. Located at Palácio Santa Clara, the hotel rises above the colourful alleyways of Alfama, Lisbon’s most picturesque neighbourhood—offering front-row views of the river. Built atop the ancient College of St. Francis Xavier, which served as the Portuguese Royal Navy Hospital for over 200 years, the property is being reimagined by acclaimed architect Samuel Torres de Carvalho. His design respects the building’s heritage while looking ahead to a bold, unconventional Lisbon.
Anchored in food, music, art, and culture, The Standard, Lisbon brings our signature design and experience-driven philosophy to Portugal. With 165 guestrooms and 24 adjacent apartments, the expansive property features vibrant spaces for day and nightlife programming. The ground floor welcomes guests and locals with a lobby lounge, pharmacy bar, all-day dining restaurant, and multiple terraces, gardens, and a pool deck. Upstairs includes a café, spa, gym, and event spaces. The rooftop bar and terrace are poised to become a neighbourhood destination.
Our signature blend of playful, sophisticated, and unexpected hospitality finds resonance in the cultural heart of Lisbon. Set in Fado’s holy land, a maze of staircases, patios, and hidden corners, The Standard offers a dynamic contrast that will surprise and delight.
As we enter the pre-opening phase, we’re now looking for a Sales Manager who will embody our ‘Anything but Standard’ ethos.
Your role
As our Sales Manager, you will work in partnership with our Director of Sales, wider Commercial teams, and Global Sales network to support the development and implementation of our pre-opening sales strategy. You will help drive revenue across all key segments; including Leisure, Entertainment, Corporate, and Groups and play a central role in positioning The Standard, Lisbon as a leading lifestyle destination in the city.
During the pre-opening period, you will support a number of critical path sales projects to ensure our strategies, systems, and processes are fully set up. You will also help introduce the hotel to the Lisbon market by generating excitement, building relationships, and conducting hard-hat tours for potential clients, partners, and industry contacts.
Over the longer term, you will manage a portfolio of accounts, build new business opportunities, and support the delivery of our annual sales plan. You will work closely with our Director of Revenue and Marketing team on promotions and packages that support transient and direct sales, helping us achieve our monthly revenue forecasts. You will also participate in the annual RFP process on behalf of the hotel, maintaining accurate records and reporting across all relevant systems.
Representing The Standard, Lisbon both locally and internationally, you may travel to key feeder markets across Portugal, Brazil, Europe, and the USA. This may include roadshows, sales calls, travel trade fairs, and events to promote not only our Lisbon property but the wider Standard Hotels lifestyle group.
This is not a ‘Standard’ Sales Manager position, so you will need to have miles and miles of personality and stamina, be highly social, upbeat and friendly; confident, resilient, and able to thrive in a high-volume, high-energy environment while working both independently and as part of a team.
