No Regular Play the Love

The Standard: It's been more than two years since we featured you on the Standard blog. What have been the highlights since then?

No Regular Play: Releasing our debut album, Endangered Species, was a big highlight. It was something that we worked really hard on in a short span of time in order to have a sound that was indicative of a certain time period in our growth as producers. The Crew Love off-Sonar shows the past two years have been truly amazing, and we can't wait for the future ones. Also, the EP we released on Justin Miller's label HAKT was something really special. Justin will be joining us on August 17 for some very killer times!

Big things have been happening for Crew Love. What role do you play in the crew, alongside Wolf+Lamb, Soul Clap, PillowTalk, Slow Hands?

Crew Love shows seem to work so well for the integration between the live acts and DJ's. We've all worked hard to create a long form set for the night as a whole and keep things loose at the same time. Our role is just to bring that Peak Time, baby. Wooo!!!

We interviewed Zev a few weeks ago and he said that his today's feeling is 'Punk Rock.' Are you in the same mood?

Yeah, Zev is for sure bringing that punk rock vibe to the dancefloor this Summer (laughs). We've been going back and listening to a lot of the old jazz records that were really influential growing up - all the collaborations between Miles Davis and Gil Evans, John Coltrane's Impressions and Herbie Hancock's Thrust. All those records played a big role in making Greg the trumpet player he is today.

What record have you been playing at the peak of your DJ sets in recent weeks?

Lately, we've been rocking the A/Jus/Ted remix of Blood Orange's Uncle Ace.

Which work of art really impressed and surprised you this Summer?

We saw a fantastic show at Lisa Bauer's gallery. She continues to impress us with her talent and constant evolution of style and line.

What is the most romantic thing to do in NYC this Summer?

Going on a day trip to the Rockaways or Fort Tilden!

Sunday August 17th, Le Bain presents Été d'Amour, featuring No Regular Play and Justin Miller (Have A Killer Time). Party starts 9pm. The Standard, High Line.
