Job Title: Kitchen Technician
Department: Engineering
Location: The Standard, High Line
Reporting to: Director of Engineering/Chief Engineers
Job Purpose: The Kitchen Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing kitchen equipment to ensure smooth operations and high standards of food service. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repair
· Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, and other appliances.
Troubleshooting
· Diagnose and resolve technical issues with kitchen equipment promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
Installation
· Assist in the installation and setup of new kitchen equipment and ensure they meet all operational and safety standards.
Safety Compliance
· Ensure all kitchen equipment and maintenance practices comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety codes.
Inventory Management
· Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and tools, and order new parts as needed to ensure timely repairs.
Collaboration
· Work closely with kitchen staff, chefs, and other departments to identify and address equipment issues and ensure seamless kitchen operations.
Documentation
· Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance logs.
Emergency Response
· Provide immediate response to kitchen equipment failures during service hours to support uninterrupted kitchen operations.
Training
· Train kitchen staff on the proper use and basic troubleshooting of kitchen equipment to promote safe and efficient operations.
· Any other task as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
· High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in kitchen equipment maintenance or a related field is preferred.
· Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in maintaining and repairing commercial kitchen equipment, preferably in a hotel or restaurant environment.
· Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
· Proficiency with hand and power tools used in kitchen equipment maintenance.
· Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements
· Carrying, pushing, or lifting items weighing up to 100 pounds.
· Long periods of standing.
· Periods of outside work.
· Moving about the public areas.
· Handling objects such as luggage.
· Continuous contact with Guests.
· Bending, kneeling, stooping.

· Pay Rate $35/per hour
